Leafs fans might not always see a good game, but the pre-game projection show is on point. (Maple Leafs)

The Toronto Maple Leafs’ ice surface at the Air Canada Center has been making news for all the wrong reasons lately. The hockey being played on it by the home team is not particularly good, nor is the fact that it is being littered with jerseys from disgruntled fans. So here’s something a little more positive.

The on-ice projection system at the ACC is on point. The relatively new technology that is sweeping NHL and NBA arenas is really being explored in a lot of cool ways. The Maple Leafs’ on-ice projection has gone through a few iterations already, but the latest one is particularly mesmerizing.

From a mock flooding of the surface to a pulsating Maple Leafs logo, the ACC ice turns into a pretty dramatic 3D canvas.

Some people don’t need the extra entertainment at a game, but it sure does seem to help set the stage and get fans into it early.
