The Detroit Red Wings were 3-2 overtime winners in Ottawa on Saturday night, and it was Gustav Nyquist scoring the winner. It was also one of the most incredible goals you will see this season.
It's not the goal itself that is impressive. It's everything that preceded the goal that really makes the play so amazing, because it was one of the best examples of individual skill and puck control that you will ever want to see.
When the puck touches Nyquist's stick in the offensive zone, there is still 1:17 remaining in the overtime period. When the puck finally crossed the goal line, it was down to 47.6 seconds. No other player on the ice touched the puck in the 30 seconds that followed as Nyquist played an incredible game of keepaway, circling around in the offensive zone and fighting off defenders before finally giving himself enough room to get a shot off and beat Senators goalie Craig Anderson.
That is Nyquist's 15th goal of the season, and it's one definitely one of the most impressive.
