The Arizona Coyotes have extremely high hopes for former first-round pick Max Domi. The son of former enforcer Tie Domi is a bit different from dear ol’ dad as he’ll be looked to as a big-time producer for this club. If Friday night was any indication, the younger Domi is seizing his role.
With the Coyotes already up 2-0 on the Los Angeles Kings, Arizona forward Steve Downie stepped up to force a turnover. Defenseman Connor Murphy poked the puck ahead to Domi who had some room to skate.
Kings defenseman Christian Ehrhoff tried to close in, but Domi showed off his deceptive release and wired a shot that went between Kings blueliner Alec Martinez’s legs and past Jonathan Quick, who may not have even seen it come off of Domi’s stick.
What. A. Shot.
Domi has undoubtedly been dreaming of scoring that first NHL goal for years, but I’d have to wonder if it ever happened as cleanly as that one ended up.
The Coyotes ended up scoring one more and earned a 4-1 win over the Kings, so it was a memorable debut overall for the 20-year-old forward.
