When the color commentator has nothing to say but, “Oh my gosh,” you know something pretty crazy just happened. There really are no words for the save University of Minnesota Duluth goaltender Kasimir Kaskisuo made against Miami University forward Cody Murphy Friday night.

All that can really be done is to attempt to explain it, but even that is difficult.

After Murphy beat the defenseman wide with speed, he cut towards the net and tried to wait for Kaskisuo to give him an opening. It appeared that Murphy was just patient enough as he cut across the crease and Kaskisuo’s slide had run its course with still leaving an opening.

All Kaskisuo could do from there was  to reach back with his glove hand, but that would require some pretty awkward twisting of his body. At that point, it comes down to hoping you can get the arm up in time to get a piece. And wouldn’t you know it? He didn't just stop it, Kaskisuo caught the puck.

Murphy did everything he possibly could to score and Kaskisuo simply robbed him with an incredibly clever (and maybe a little lucky) save. It's not very often you'll see a goalie make a save from this position.

The Finnish netminder is a freshman at UMD. Coming into Friday night he had a .911 save percentage and 2.53 goals-against average in four appearances. So, year, the Finnish goalies are pretty good at just about every level.

By the way, Kaskisuo also had an assist in the game.

Miami did have the last laugh, earning a 3-2 win on a late goal, but regardless of the result, Murphy is going to be seeing that in his dreams for a few nights.
