Mike Milbury is angry again, and this time his target is Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin for his performance on Wednesday night against the Philadelphia Flyers.
During his intermission segment with Liam McHugh and Keith Jones on NBC Sports Network, Milbury let loose on Ovechkin for his performance through the first two periods in the Caps' 4-1 loss. In typical Milbury fashion, he did not hold back.
He criticized Ovechkin's effort, overall performance and embellishment of a stick near the head, telling him to "act like a man for God's sake," and screaming about how 8-year-olds don't make the type of plays Ovechkin made in the offensive zone. He was also annoyed that Ovechkin made a line change during a Flyers goal.
Milbury has a history of being critical of Ovechkin's play, so this isn't really something new, but he definitely cranked it up a notch here.
Frankly, the entire Capitals team was a mess on Wednesday night, taking a couple of steps backward after their big win over Carolina on Monday. And that has pretty much been the story of their season to this point.
