The Chargers activated Marshall (illness) from the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register reports. Marshall was unavailable in Week 16 after he was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list. However, he'll likely return to the field for Sunday's matchup against the Broncos.... See More ... See Less

Chargers' Trey Marshall: Moves to reserve/COVID-19 list
The Chargers placed Marshall on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday. According to Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times, head coach Brandon Staley labeled Marshall as day-to-day, which would seem to suggest that the 25-year-old safety is on the list as a vaccinated player that tested positive for the virus. Per the NFL's new COVID-19 protocols, Marshall will be eligible to rejoin the team as soon as he's deemed to be asymptomatic. Marshall thus has an outside shot of gaining clearance prior to Sunday's game against the Texans. He's appeared in 12 games to date this season, recording 19 tackles.... See More ... See Less -
Chargers' Trey Marshall: Full participant in practice
Marshall (ankle) was a full participant in practice Thursday. After spending most of training camp with Denver dealing with an ankle injury, Marshall failed to make the Broncos roster and eventually signed with the Chargers. The safety was forced to miss L.A.'s season opener against Washington as his ankle issue was still bothering him. Now it seems that the injury is mostly cleared up, and Marshall should be able to make his season debut Sunday against the Cowboys.... See More ... See Less -
Trey Marshall: Let go by Denver
The Broncos waived Marshall (ankle) on Tuesday, Ryan O'Halloran of The Denver Post reports. Marshall spent the latter portion of training camp dealing with an ankle injury, so it's no surprise to see him fail to stick on the initial 53-man roster. He appeared in 30 games with the Broncos over the last three seasons.... See More ... See Less -
Broncos' Trey Marshall: Signs ERFA tender
Marshall signed his free-agent tender with the Broncos on Tuesday. The 25-year-old was an exclusive rights free agent, so he was locked in with Denver once the team decided to tender him a contract for 2021. Marshall appeared in 12 games during 2020 and totaled six tackles while primarily playing special teams.... See More ... See Less -
Broncos' Trey Marshall: Tendered by Broncos
The Broncos tendered a contract to exclusive rights free agent Marshall (quadriceps) on Monday, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports. Marshall suited up for all 16 of the Broncos' games in 2019, plus the team's first 10 outings of the 2020 campaign. Shin and quad injuries took their toll down the stretch, however, ultimately forcing Marshall to miss four of Denver's final six games. This latest transaction puts him on a trajectory to return to the Broncos' lineup this fall, where he's primarily expected to be deployed as a special-teams contributor. Should veteran safety Kareem Jackson move on this offseason, Marshall's defensive role could become more prominent.... See More ... See Less -
Broncos' Trey Marshall: Ready to face Bills
Marshall (shin) is active for Saturday's game against the Bills. Marshall was officially listed as questionable with a shin injury that's caused him to miss three straight games, but he'll take the field versus Buffalo. The 24-year-old contributes almost exclusively on special teams for Denver.... See More ... See Less -
Broncos' Trey Marshall: Questionable for Week 15
Marshall (shin) is questionable heading into Saturday's matchup against the Bills, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports. Marshall has missed each of the Broncos' past three games while coping with his shin injury, but there's hope for him to suit up Week 15 after he proved capable of logging limited sessions Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The Florida State product has played a nearly exclusive special-teams role in 2020, with 233 of his snaps coming in that department compared to just five on defense.... See More ... See Less -
Broncos' Trey Marshall: Shakes off ailment
Marshall (illness) is officially active for Sunday's contest against the Falcons. Marshall failed to practice Friday after he felt under the weather with a non-COVID-19 related illness, so this is certainly good news for the Florida State product. Marshall rarely contributes on defense, so look for him to log his playing time on special teams now that he's officially playing.... See More ... See Less -
Broncos' Trey Marshall: Staying in Denver
Marshall will remain with the Broncos after the team placed a contract tender on the exclusive rights free agent Tuesday, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports. Marshall helped provide depth in the secondary for the Broncos in 2019. The 25-year-old recorded 25 tackles (19 solo) and forced one fumble across 16 games. He will now look to earn a bigger role in 2020.... See More ... See Less -
Broncos' Trey Marshall: Good to go Sunday
Marshall (leg) is active for Sunday's game against the Titans. Marshall avoided missing his first game of the season. He normally doesn't play often on defense, but the Broncos' secondary is so banged up that Marshall could see an uptick in his usage.... See More ... See Less -
Broncos' Trey Marshall: Promoted to active roster
The Broncos promoted Marshall to the active roster Monday, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports. According to the report, the Cardinals attempted to lure Marshall away from Denver's practice squad, forcing the Broncos' hand. He'll take the roster spot vacated by Shamarko Thomas and will likely be used on special teams.... See More ... See Less
