Jets' Joseph Ossai: Joining Jets on three-year deal
Ossai (ankle) agreed to a three-year, $36 million contract with the Jets on Monday, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
Ossai has recovered from the ankle injury that sidelined him down the stretch for the Bengals in 2025. He had 5.0 sacks in 14 games prior to the injury, tying his career high from the previous season. Ossai's new deal, which includes $22.5 million in guaranteed money, can become official Wednesday at the start of the new league year. He projects as a starter at defensive end for the Jets at this point, though that could change if the team adds a pass rusher with the second pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Bengals' Joseph Ossai: Won't return for Week 18
Ossai (ankle) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Browns, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
Ossai didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday, so it's no surprise that he'll miss his third consecutive game due to an ankle injury Sunday. The Texas product appeared in 14 games for the Bengals this season, recording 43 total tackles, including 5.0 sacks, and two forced fumbles. Expect 2025 first-round pick Shemar Stewart to start opposite Myles Murphy on Cincinnati's defensive line while Ossai is sidelined in Week 18.

Bengals' Joseph Ossai: Sits out of Wednesday's practice
Ossai (ankle) was listed as a DNP on Wednesday's practice report.
An ankle injury has prevented Ossai from playing in each of the Bengals' last two games, and he would likely have to return to practice over the next two days to have a realistic chance of playing against the Browns on Sunday. Cameron Sample and rookie first-rounder Shemar Stewart would continue to see more snaps at defensive end if Ossai cannot play in Week 18.

Bengals' Joseph Ossai: Remaining sidelined Sunday
Ossai (ankle) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Cardinals, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.
The 25-year-old didn't practice all week and is now in line to miss his second consecutive game due to an ankle injury. Ossai has been one of Cincinnati's most productive pass rushers this season, recording 73 total tackles, including 5.0 sacks, and two forced fumbles in 14 appearances. Expect 2025 first-round pick Shemar Stewart to start opposite Myles Murphy on the Bengals' defensive line while Ossai is out Sunday.

Bengals' Joseph Ossai: DNP Wednesday
Ossai (ankle) did not participate in Wednesday's practice.
Ossai missed his first game of the season last Sunday against the Dolphins and is currently on pace to miss consecutive games. If the defensive end is unable to upgrade his practice participation during Thursday or Friday's sessions, he will likely be ruled out once again for Week 17 against the Cardinals. Rookie Shemar Stewart started his first game since Week 9 last Sunday after being activated off injured reserve (knee issue), and if Ossai must miss another contest, Stewart could see another 51 percent defensive snap share game.
