His extended absence is likely to keep him out for Week 2 against the Seahawks, even if he can return to the field in some form Friday. For Week 1, New England elevated Michael Jordan from the practice squad and gave him the start at left guard, which will likely be the plan again Sunday if Sow ultimately sits out a second straight game.

Sow has been running as New England's starting left guard all summer. For an offensive line that is trying to find the right combination up front, losing Sow to any sort of multi-week injury would be a big deal. A fourth-round pick in 2023, Sow started 13 games as a rookie.
