Rams' Byron Young: Sack leader for Rams in 2025
Young (knee) finished the 2025 regular season with 82 tackles (45 solo), including 12.0 sacks, and one forced fumble across 17 games.
Young was a dominant force on the Rams defense to start the year, logging 9.0 sacks through the first seven games of the campaign. His sack production dipped noticeably following a Week 8 bye, which may have been due to a knee injury that he was playing through since November, including in each of Los Angeles' three playoff games. Head coach Sean McVay relayed Monday that Young may not need surgery to clean out his knee, and the latter should be ready for the Rams' offseason program, per Adam Grosbard of The Orange County Register.

Rams' Byron Young: Good to go vs. Seattle
Young (knee) is active for Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Seahawks, Nate Atkins of The Athletic reports.
Young earned the questionable tag for Sunday's game after logging a limited practice Friday. He went through pregame warmups to test his knee, and the third-year pro has been given the green light to play against Seattle. Young has logged six tackles (two solo) across the Rams' two playoff games.

Rams' Byron Young: Likely playing in NFC Championship
Young (knee) will practice in a limited fashion Friday and will be listed as questionable for Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Seahawks.
The third-year pro from Tennessee opened the Rams' week of practice with consecutive DNPs but upgraded to a limited session Friday, suggesting he's trending in the right direction ahead of Sunday's contest. Despite his questionable designation, head coach Sean McVay told reporters Friday that Young is "going to be ready to go," so he's expected to suit up for the NFC Championship Game. If active Sunday, Young will operate as one of Los Angeles' top pass rushers, having recorded 12.0 sacks during the regular season.

Rams' Byron Young: Expected to play Sunday
Young (knee) did not participate in Thursday's practice.
The third-year linebacker has missed back-to-back practices while recovering from a knee injury, but head coach Sean McVay told reporters Thursday that he expects Young to play in Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Seahawks, per Greg Beacham of the Associated Press. Young's participation in Friday's practice will play a factor in whether he is tagged with an injury designation heading into Sunday's contest.

Rams' Byron Young: Doesn't practice Wednesday
Young (knee) didn't participate in the Rams' practice Wednesday.
Young is still working through the knee soreness that he sustained during last week's divisional-round win over the Bears. However, despite the injury, Sean McVay previously said that he still expects the 27-year-old to be available for Sunday's conference championship game versus the Seahawks.

Rams' Byron Young: Managing sore knee
Young experienced soreness in his knee Sunday night, Adam Grosbard of The Orange County Register reports.
Young's defensive snap share was just 43 percent in Sunday's divisional-round win over Chicago, though it's not clear if the knee issue had anything to do with his reduced time on the field. He still made an impact with five tackles (one solo) and a QB hit. Rams head coach Sean McVay said Monday that he doesn't expect the injury to impact Young's availability for Sunday's matchup versus Seattle in the NFC Championship Game, though it still bears watching the pass rusher's practice participation throughout the week to get a read on how bothersome the issue is.

Rams' Byron Young: Records double-digit sacks
Young recorded 82 tackles (45 solo), including 12.0 sacks, and forced a fumble in 17 regular-season games during 2025.
The durable Young, who hasn't missed a game in his three seasons in the league, took another step towards becoming one of the league's elite linebackers in 2025, finishing in a tie for eighth with Josh Sweat and Will Anderson for most sacks while earning his first career Pro Bowl nod in the process. It looked like he'd finish with much more than 12 sacks early in the season, as Young recorded at least half a sack in each of the Rams first seven games, before cooling off and recording just three sacks over the final 10 contests. Young will be entering the final year of his rookie deal in 2026 and will look to continue his upward progression before either signing an extension with the Rams or looking for a big payday in free agency.

Rams' Byron Young: Cleared to play vs. Detroit
Young (knee) does not carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Lions, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
Young sat out Friday's practice after being limited in the first two sessions of Week 15 prep due to a lingering knee injury. That appears to have been a maintenance day for the third-year edge rusher, who has been given the green light to play in Sunday's home tilt. Young has tallied 1.0 sacks in back-to-back games, and his 11.0 sacks (through 13 regular-season games) is tied with Danielle Hunter and Josh Sweat for fifth most in the NFL.

Rams' Byron Young: Limited again Thursday
Young (knee) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
Young logged consecutive limited practices as he continues to nurse the knee injury he has dealt with since Week 13. If past practice logs and game participation are any indicator, the outside linebacker should be available for Sunday's game against the Lions. Since being added to the injury report with the issue, Young has logged 12 tackles (7 solo), including 2.0 sacks, through two games and will likely add to that total in Week 15.

Young (knee) was a limited participant in Wednesday's walkthrough practice, Adam Grosbard of The Orange County Register reports.
Young has been able to play through a knee injury during the Rams' last two games, so he should be available to play Sunday against the Lions barring a setback. The third-year edge rusher has tallied 12 tackles (seven solo), including 2.0 sacks, over his last two games.
