Catapano was released by the Texans on Friday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Catapano signed with the Texans a little over a week ago for the tail end of training camp. The 27-year-old brought veteran experience to the team, but he was never seen as having a legitimate chance to make the final roster with Houston boasting a stout defensive line.

Jets' Mike Catapano: Lands on IR
Catapano (knee) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Connor Hughes of New Jersey Advanced Media reports.
Catapano missed last week's game against the Dolphins due to his knee injury, and the team has since determined that he wouldn't be able to play in the final two weeks of the season. Josh Martin and Freddie Bishop figure to see a few extra reps with Catapano absent for the final couple tilts.
