Chad Wheeler: Waived, stepping away from NFL
The Seahawks waived Wheeler on Wednesday.
Seattle is parting ways with Wheeler -- who was set to become a restricted free agent this offseason -- after he was arrested in Seattle over the weekend on suspicion of felony domestic violence in an incident involving his girlfriend. The offensive tackle took to his personal Twitter account Wednesday, apologizing for his action while attributing the incident to a "manic episode." He also announced plans to walk away from football so he could seek help.

Seahawks' Chad Wheeler: Arrested over weekend
Wheeler was arrested Saturday in Seattle on suspicion of felony domestic violence, Scott Gleeson of USA Today reports.
Wheeler was booked into King County Jail following his arrest before he was released Tuesday on $400,000 bond. The Seahawks acknowledged that they are aware of Wheeler's arrest and are still gathering information on the situation. Wheeler, who served as a backup offensive tackle for the Seahawks in 2020, is set to become a restricted free agent this spring.
