Given the brutally ugly nature of the game, DeSean Jackson really did give us the ending that the Cowboys-Redskins game deserved on Monday night.

With the score knotted up at nine points apiece, the Redskins were set up to get one more chance to win the game in regulation. The Cowboys lined up to punt with less than two minutes remaining. Waiting to receive that punt was Jackson, who has a history of sealing wins with unreal returns.

But Jackson also has a history of making some truly dumb plays. And that's exactly what happened on this return, when Jackson tried to do way too much with the football.

After backtracking near his goal line, Jackson fumbled. The Cowboys' punter, Chris Jones, fell on the football.

Moments later, Darren McFadden scored on a touchdown run, handing the Cowboys a late lead. Interestingly enough, by scoring the touchdown instead of falling short of the goal line, McFadden gave the Redskins a chance to tie the game.

That's when Jackson redeemed himself, catching the game-tying 28-yard touchdown pass from Kirk Cousins.

Of course, the Redskins also ended up leaving the Cowboys too much time. Dan Bailey kicked a game-winning 54-yard field goal in the final seconds, giving the Cowboys the win.

So, in the end, all of Jackson's actions were fruitless, which really was the most fitting end to a miserable game.
