Najeh Davenport spent seven seasons in the NFL playing for the Packers, Steelers and Colts. On Thursday, Miami-Dade, Fla., police said a man using his name was arrested after allegedly leading officers on a car chase (via WPLG-TV in Miami).
Detectives tried to stop the car driven by 36-year-old Damian Coleman because it matched the one used in a robbery, but he allegedly tried to flee instead. Coleman, who allegedly was in possession of the 34-year-old Davenport's driver's license, then tried running away after stopping the car at a local hospital, but officers apprehended him.
Police originally said they had apprehended Davenport.
You’ll recall that Davenport agreed to community service in 2002 after plea-bargaining down a burglary charge in which he was accused of breaking into a woman’s dorm room and defecating in the laundry basket in her closet.
During his career, which ended in 2008, Davenport rushed for 1,819 yards and 13 touchdowns.
