Wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey was released Monday morning from Eden Medical Center in Oakland and is expected to make a full recovery from a concussion and neck strain, the Raiders announced.
After spending the night at the hospital for observation, Heyward-Bey returned to his home.
Heyward-Bey was injured Sunday early in the fourth quarter of the Raiders' 34-31 win over Pittsburgh when he took a helmet-to-helmet hit in the end zone from Steelers safety Ryan Mundy. Heyward-Bey was knocked unconscious briefly. Trainers and doctors strapped him to a stretcher then carted him off the field.
As he left the field to a loud ovation, Heyward-Bey raised a hand and gave a thumbs up to the crowd. Heyward-Bey was able to talk and to move all of his extremities, coach Dennis Allen said.
