No. 3 pick Trent Richardson agrees to four-year, $20.488 mil contract

For much of Monday afternoon and evening, various reports on Twitter claimed a deal was close between the Browns and No. 3 draft pick Trent Richardson. Now, according to PFT, that deal has been completed for four years and $20.488 million, all of it guaranteed.

For much of Monday afternoon and evening, various reports on Twitter claimed a deal was close between the Browns and No. 3 draft pick Trent Richardson, the highest selection unsigned.

Now, CBSSports.com's Mike Freeman has confirmed that the deal has been completed for four years and $20.488 million, all of it guaranteed. Though the major sticking point supposedly was offset language -- which meant Richardson wouldn’t have received his guaranteed money from the Browns if they cut him within the timeframe of the contract and he signed with another team -- the deal does not include that language.

Which is not a surprise since none of the top picks have included that language in their deals.

According to PFT, “the contract pays Richardson a signing bonus of $13.341 million, along with base salaries of $390,000 in 2012, $1.321 million in 2013, $2.252 million in 2014, and $3.184 million in 2015.”

Richardson was the fourth first-round pick to sign Monday, meaning only three top-10 selections reaming unsigned -- Matt Kalil of the Vikings, Justin Blackmon of the Jaguars and Ryan Tannehill of the Dolphins.

Now, the next stop for Richardson is quite simple, according to CBSSports.com’s Mike Freeman. Become BFFs with a legend.
