Why the Lions can cover

The Lions' dynamic passing attack is headlined by receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. The USC product provides this squad with a crafty pass-catcher who has a knack for creating separation with ease. In 2023, he was tied for second in the NFL in receptions (119), third in receiving yards (1,515), and tied for fourth in receiving touchdowns (10). He had at least seven catches in 12 games last season including the playoffs.

Tight end Sam LaPorta was immediately dominant as a rookie last season for the Lions. LaPorta already has a connection with Jared Goff and has become a safety blanket in the middle of the field. Last year, he had the most receptions by a rookie tight end (86) with 889 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. He supplied six games with at least 60 receiving yards. See who to back at SportsLine.

Why the Rams can cover

Head coach Sean McVay loves to have a reliable running game and that was apparent last season. The Rams finished the season 11th in rushing yards per game (120.3) and eighth in rushing touchdowns (18). Running back Kyren Williams was the main difference maker in the backfield. Williams has light feet and quickness which makes him tough to bring down. The Notre Dame product was third in the NFL in rushing yards (1,144) and tied for seventh in rushing touchdowns (7).

Despite having Williams on the field, that didn't stop the Rams from adding more to the backfield. Los Angeles selected running back Blake Corum in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Corum was dominant at the collegiate level. He has excellent vision and plays with good timing. In four seasons at the University of Michigan, Corum totaled 674 carries for 3,737 rushing yards, and 58 touchdowns. See who to back at SportsLine.
