Lamar Jackson sustained a high ankle sprain that kept him sidelined for nearly three quarters of Baltimore's Week 14 loss in Cleveland. Ravens coach John Harbaugh told reporters that Jackson will undergo tests on Monday to determine the significance of the injury.
Jackson sustained the injury during the second quarter of Baltimore's 24-22 loss. Jackson, who was initially ruled as questionable to return, left the game after getting hit by Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah on the first play of the second quarter. Jackson was evaluated by trainers on the field before being carted off into the locker room.
Jackson was replaced by Tyler Huntley, who rallied the Ravens back from a 24-3 deficit before coming up short after the Ravens recovered an onside kick with 1:15 left. Baltimore was down 10-0 at the time of Jackson's injury.
The Ravens are certainly hoping that Jackson's injury is not too serious. The 2019 league MVP is not only one of the league's best passers, he leads the Ravens with nearly 800 rushing yards. Jackson's play has helped the Ravens remain atop the AFC North despite Baltimore sustaining several major injuries on both sides of the ball.
The loss dropped Baltimore to 8-5 on the season. The Ravens are trying to stay on top of a very competitive division that includes Cleveland (7-6), Cincinnati (who were 7-5 prior to their game against the 49ers), and Pittsburgh (6-1-1).
