If Jim Harbaugh's kids end up being vegetarians, they'll be able to pinpoint Thanksgiving 2014 as the day their new diet started.

The 49ers coach revealed on Monday that his family might opt for tofu instead of turkey this year and there's a very interesting reason why.

It's Thanksgiving week, so it wasn't that surprising when Harbaugh was asked on Monday what kind of food he plans to eat with his family for Thanksgiving.

"We're in discussion on that right now," Harbaugh said. "We were watching the Sunday Night Football game -- We were planning on having turkey -- but then they showed this piece where they were showing all the turkeys and everything and my son Jack and Katie and Addie, 'Look at the turkeys. Look at all the turkeys there.' And they were getting excited looking at the turkeys."

Awwww! Jim Harbaugh is actually opening up to the media and telling an adorable story about watching Sunday Night Football with his three kids that are all under age seven.

Keep going coach.

"And then the next shot was they had loaded the turkeys onto a truck and they were driving them away and the kids were like, 'Where are they going?' And we kind of thought maybe we won't have turkey this year for Thanksgiving. So, we're in discussion on that," Harbaugh said. "We'll have some tofu or something."

So what did the Harbaugh family see that turned them toward tofu?

They saw the clip below that aired on Sunday Night Football. The clip shows a truckload of turkeys being hauled off to wherever it is turkeys get hauled off to four days before Thanksgiving.

Even Cris Collinsworth was somewhat aghast at what he was seeing. It's probably a safe bet that NBC won't be re-airing this clip when the network televises the 49ers-Seahawks game on Thanksgiving Day.

Anyway, maybe we should all eat tofu this year.
