Buccaneers among multiple teams that have expressed interest in free-agent corner Richard Sherman, per report

Sherman is also down to his old playing weight of 195 pounds

Richard Sherman won't be on the field anywhere during Week 2, but the free agent corner seems to be nearing a return. According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, Sherman is back to his old playing weight of 195 pounds and expects to be on the field at some point in 2021. Multiple teams have also recently reached out to Sherman, per Pelissero. 

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are among the teams that have touched base with the five-time Pro Bowler after losing corner Sean Murphy-Bunting due to an elbow injury. The 49ers have also kept tabs on Sherman and have expressed interest in bringing him back this year, especially after losing Jason Verrett to a season-ending knee injury. The Seahawks are another club Pelissero notes as a possible destination for Sherman. 

While teams may be keeping their eye on Sherman, Pelissero adds that money is a factor in where the 33-year-old could ultimately end up. He had interest from a number of clubs this offseason, but no team was willing to meet his asking price. 

Another possible roadblock to Sherman landing on a roster is his ongoing legal situation from July where he was arrested on five misdemeanor charges, including driving under the influence and second-degree criminal trespass. The NFL is reviewing Sherman's situation but likely won't come down with any sort of punishment until the legal process is complete. That means Sherman likely would be able to play immediately.
