Jennifer Gase, the wife of Broncos QB coach Adam Gase, has a tough choice Sunday -- her husband or her dad.

Jennifer's father is Joe Vitt, the Saints' interim head coach who returned this week from a six-game bountygate suspension to coach the balance of the season. Vitt admits he "couldn't be prouder" of his son-in-law, with whom he speaks as often as he can.

"No. 1, Adam's a great husband, No. 2, he's a great father, and No. 3, he's been a great friend to me," Vitt said.

Communication between the two has gone silent this week -- but that's normal.

"Listen, we haven't texted one time," Vitt said. "Everybody's got to understand, once the work week begins, you don't have a lot of time for conversation no matter who it is.

"But Adam's a good football coach now. He's taken the long road to where he is right now. He's grown up with some great coaches like Nick Saban and Mike Martz and Adam's a grinder, man, and he's very passionate about what he does."

Gase's stock is on the rise, in no small part because he's successfully worked with Tim Tebow and Peyton Manning, two quarterbacks with disparate styles and form. Vitt, who previously served as the Rams' interim head coach in 2005, is expected to stabilize what had appeared to be a rudderless ship when the Saints started 0-4.

That being said, Vitt expects the players on the field to decide the outcome.

"Adam can't throw and I can't tackle. This is a player's game," Vitt said.
