The Rockets waived Thomas on Wednesday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.
The Rockets needed to open a roster spot to complete their trade for Sekou Doumbouya. The 25-year-old appeared in five games for Houston last year and averaged 16.4 points, 5.0 assists, 3.6 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.2 blocks in 30.6 minutes.

Rockets' Khyri Thomas: Continues stellar bench production
Thomas produced 18 points (6-16 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 4-4 FT), five assists and four rebounds across 29 minutes in Monday's 140-129 loss to the Trail Blazers.
The Creighton product is making the most of his opportunity with Houston, and he's a perfect example of how teams out of contention can discover talent from the G-League ranks. The addition of Thomas has bolstered a fragile rotation that suffers without John Wall and Christian Wood.

Rockets' Khyri Thomas: Goes for 27 points off bench
Thomas recorded 27 points (10-21 FG, 4-12 3Pt, 3-3 FT), five rebounds, five steals, three assists and two blocks across 34 minutes in Saturday's loss to the Jazz.
Thomas signed a 10-day contract with the Rockets on Friday and has made a huge impact early on, scoring 15-plus points in his two outings and performing above the expectations so far. This might be enough for Houston to keep him on another 10-day contract, though his best fantasy-related scenario would make him a decent streaming alternative depending on the matchup.

Khyri Thomas: Will be waived
The Hawks plan to waive Thomas, Sarah Spencer of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
This doesn't come as much of a surprise, as the Hawks have plenty of backcourt depth and couldn't offer much of a role to the newly acquired guard. Thomas will head into free agency and look to catch on with another team.

Pistons' Khyri Thomas: Gets double-digit minutes in loss
Thomas played 13 minutes off the bench and contributed six points (2-6 FG, 2-4 3Pt) with one rebound Sunday in a 96-84 loss to the Knicks.
After returning in late February from the left foot surgery that sidelined him for most of the season, Thomas has occupied a minor rotation role for the Pistons. He's seen the floor in five of the team's last six games, topping out at 14 minutes. Thomas will likely be a prime candidate to lose out on playing time once the likes of Brandon Knight (knee) and Luke Kennard (knee) return to action.
