Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal suffered a sprained pelvis Saturday against the Indiana Pacers, and the Wizards announced that he is doubtful to return. The injury occurred when he took a nasty fall in the third quarter.
Beal caught the ball behind the 3-point line, drove and a foul was called on Pacers center Ian Mahinmi. Beal's momentum was still taking him forward, though, and he went up for a layup after the whistle. That's when Indiana big man Myles Turner challenged his shot, bumped him and sent him to the floor. There was an audible thud when he landed.
Watch:
You can tell immediately that Turner was concerned that he'd caused an injury. He checked on Beal right away, before Beal's Wizards teammates even had a chance to do so. Beal stayed down for a while in obvious pain.
Beal has missed significant time because of leg and shoulder injuries, and the last thing he needed was a freak play like this. Here's hoping this does not keep him out for long.
