Who's Playing

Oklahoma City @ New Orleans

Current Records: Oklahoma City 3-6; New Orleans 1-10

What to Know

The New Orleans Pelicans will be returning home after a four-game road trip. They will take on the Oklahoma City Thunder at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday at Smoothie King Center. Oklahoma City should still be riding high after a win, while the Pelicans will be looking to right the ship.

The game between New Orleans and the Dallas Mavericks on Monday was not a total blowout, but with New Orleans falling 108-92 on the road, it was darn close to turning into one. Despite the loss, New Orleans had strong showings from shooting guard Josh Hart, who had 22 points and five assists along with six boards, and center Jonas Valanciunas, who posted a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Valanciunas has had at least 11 rebounds.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, OKC beat the San Antonio Spurs 99-94 on Sunday. The victory came about thanks to a strong surge after the first quarter to overcome a 28-14 deficit. Oklahoma City's power forward Mike Muscala was one of the most active players for the squad, picking up 20 points. Muscala had some trouble finding his footing against the Los Angeles Lakers last week, so this was a step in the right direction. Muscala's points were the most he has had all season.

New Orleans is the favorite in this one, with an expected 4-point margin of victory. They have failed bettors playing the spread in their past four games, so buyers beware.

The Pelicans are now 1-10 while OKC sits at 3-6. Two stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: New Orleans has allowed their opponents to shoot 48% from the floor on average, which is the third highest shooting percentage allowed in the league. OKC has experienced some struggles of their own as they have only been able to knock down 40.80% percent of their shots, which is the second lowest field goal percentage in the league. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
