Through 3 Quarters

The point spread is against the New Orleans Pelicans, but thus far the points are on their side. Three quarters in and their offense has really been able to impose its will, dominating the Phoenix Suns 95-81 three quarters in.

New Orleans has been relying on small forward Brandon Ingram, who has 27 points and five assists in addition to five boards, and shooting guard CJ McCollum, who has 23 points and four assists. One thing to keep an eye out for is Jaxson Hayes' foul situation as he currently sits at four.

The top scorer for Phoenix has been shooting guard Devin Booker (28 points).

What to Know

The New Orleans Pelicans have enjoyed the comforts of home their last six games, but now they must head out on the road. They will take on the Phoenix Suns at 9 p.m. ET on Friday at Footprint Center after having had a few days off. New Orleans hasn't won a matchup against Phoenix since Feb. 3 of last year, but they'll be looking to end the drought.

The Pelicans came up short against the Dallas Mavericks last Thursday, falling 125-118. New Orleans was down 105-81 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from. A silver lining for them was the play of shooting guard CJ McCollum, who shot 7-for-10 from beyond the arc and finished with 38 points and five assists.

Meanwhile, everything went Phoenix's way against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday as they made off with a 124-104 victory. The score was close at the half, but Phoenix pulled away in the second half with 76 points. Their shooting guard Devin Booker did his thing and dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 dimes in addition to six steals. This makes it three games in a row in which Booker has had at least three steals.

The Pelicans are expected to lose this next one by 6.5. They have failed bettors playing the spread in their past two games, so buyers beware.

New Orleans is now 23-36 while the Suns sit at 49-10. A pair of offensive numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: New Orleans is stumbling into the contest with the fifth fewest points per game in the league, having accrued only 106.3 on average. Phoenix's offense has more to brag about, as they they enter the game with 113.8 points per game on average, which is the best in the league. So the cards are definitely stacked in their favor.
