Dwyane Wade wasn't himself in Game 3. Now there's a possible explanation.

ESPN.com reports that the Miami Heat All-Star guard had his left knee drained prior to Thursday night's Game 3 loss to the Indiana Pacers
Multiple sources close to Wade and the team told to ESPN.com Sunday night that he required the minor draining procedure on Wednesday before the Game 3 loss.

Wade declined to comment on the procedure after Game 4 other than to say, "If I'm in uniform, I'm ready to play."
On Friday, a report indicated that Wade was dealing with "knee and lower leg soreness" that "required treatment."

Wade finished with 5 points on 2-for-13 shooting in 38 minutes and got into a verbal altercation with coach Erik Spoelstra during Game 3. He bounced back to score 30 points on 13-for-23 shooting in 41 minutes in a Game 4 win on Sunday.

Wade, 30, underwent season-ending surgery on his left knee in March 2008. He returned to play for the United States in the Beijing Olympics that summer.

Following Game 4, Wade sounded glad that Miami had two days between their games, saying that he used Friday to visit his former coach at Marquette, Tom Crean, who is now coaching at Indiana.

"The last 48 hours [have] just been mental," he said. "I spent some time up at IU with my coach. First time there, great place, really nice campus. Really spent time with a mentor of mine, a father figure. Long day of long hours of conversating and talking about a lot of things. It was great for me to get away and get that energy I needed from him."

The Heat evened their series with the Pacers at 2 games apiece. Game 5 is scheduled for Miami on Tuesday night.
