At Friday's practice, Memphis Grizzlies forward Matt Barnes said that all the talk about October's fight between him and New York Knicks coach Derek Fisher was getting old, per the Memphis Commercial Appeal's Ronald Tillery. At Saturday's shootaround before the Grizzlies' game against the Knicks, Barnes did not exactly keep quiet about Fisher, however.
"I just don't like him," Barnes said, via the New York Times' Scott Cacciola. "Plain and simple. He knows I don't like him."
"Every man who looks at the situation knows what's right and wrong," he added. "Violence is never the answer, but sometimes it is."
Barnes also said that there would be no confrontation between him and Fisher, as the coach "already took one L. So what's the point?"
Fisher has consistently said as little as possible about Barnes since October. From ESPN's Ian Begley:
Knicks coach Derek Fisher doesn't expect to have any run-ins with Matt Barnes on Saturday when his team plays the Memphis Grizzlies.
"No, I really don't," Fisher said after practice Friday. "We're trying to win games, and that's really all that I'm thinking about as a coach. ... Those are the thoughts that I'm having. I don't concern myself with the other stuff."
…
"It has no impact on me, really," Fisher said. "So I don't think about it. It has nothing to do with us trying to figure out how to win the game tomorrow, so I don't really think much about it at all. I obviously respect what [the media has] to do, in terms of the question. But it's of no consequence to me at this point. I'm just continuing to move forward and trying to help this team be successful."
