Greg Monroe suspended 2 games for 'driving while visibly impaired'
Pistons PF Greg Monroe was suspended for the first two games of the NBA season for driving while visibly impaired.

Detroit Pistons power forward Greg Monroe was suspended for the first two games of the season without pay for pleading guilty to "driving while visibly impaired," the NBA announced Tuesday afternoon.
Monroe released a statement apologizing for the incident: "I take full responsibility for my actions and made a regrettable mistake. I apologize to my family, the Pistons' organization, my teammates and fans. I will learn from this and continue my work to be a positive influence in the community."
The Pistons also released a statement regarding Monroe's suspension: "The organization is aware of the matter resulting in the NBA's announced two-game suspension for Greg Monroe. Greg has taken responsibility in a conscientious manner and resolved the matter with his representatives."
Monroe recently signed a $5.5 million qualifying offer with Detroit as he was unwilling to make a long-term commitment to the team, even with Stan Van Gundy taking over as the new coach and president of basketball operations.
Monroe, who averaged 15.2 points and 9.3 rebounds last season (his fourth in the NBA), will miss games against Denver and Minnesota.
