The Minnesota Timberwolves have two of the best dunkers in the league in Zach LaVine and Andrew Wiggins. LaVine won the 2015 slam dunk contest in jaw-dropping fashion and will more than likely defend his crown at February's All-Star weekend. Wiggins, on the other hand, wants nothing to do with the contest.
Speaking with Tas Melas of NBA TV's The Starters on Tuesday, Wiggins, with an emphatic head shake, said he won't compete in the dunk contest. Even though All-Star weekend is happening in his hometown of Toronto, Wiggins just simply doesn't want to be in the contest.
Unfortunately, Wiggins doesn't offer up any reason why he won't compete. Maybe after seeing some of the dunks LaVine throws down in practice, he knows he has no chance of winning. Or maybe he just wants to try and keep a low key profile in his hometown during All-Star weekend. Either way, it is disappointing to know that we won't get to see a dunk-off in February between two of the NBA's best dunkers in LaVine and Wiggins.
