Kayla Harrison is staying home. The two-time PFL lightweight tournament winner has re-signed with the promotion following a free agent period that reportedly included talks with UFC and Bellator.

Harrison, a two-time Olympic gold medal-winning judoka, was among the hottest free agents in mixed martial arts history after securing her second $1 million tournament victory under the PFL banner. There were talks of her joining the UFC for a super fight against reigning UFC women's featherweight champion Amanda Nunes or making the jump to Bellator to fight their women's featherweight champion Cris Cyborg.

PFL announced on Tuesday morning that Harrison had officially re-signed with the company on a multi-year deal. The promotion also announced that they are launching a "PPV super fight division where star MMA fighters will compete on a global stage against the best fighters in the sport." Harrison is expected to main event one of those shows.

Harrison is a perfect 12-0 in MMA since debuting with PFL in 2018. She has not fought the sports stiffest competition but holds wins over UFC veterans Larissa Pacheco (twice) and Cindy Dandois. Harrison also holds a featherweight win over Courtney King in Invicta FC.

More UFC news, rumors

  • WWE champion Brock Lesnar took a detour on the road to WrestleMania 38 to talk a little MMA. Lesnar, 44, insisted that a return to the UFC was out of the question. "That door is closed," Lesnar told the New York Post. "You know what, Dana White, the Fertitta brothers [Lorenzo and Frank] were exceptional to me." The majority of Lesnar's brief, yet successful, MMA tenure took place between 2007 and 2011. "I'm too old," he said. "That's a young man's sport, and that door is closed. I'm Brock Lesnar, the WWE Superstar." The former UFC heavyweight champion returned from a five-year absence to beat Mark Hunt at UFC 200 in June 2016. The fight was overturned to a no contest after Lesnar tested positive for banned substances.
