Naylor went 2-for-3 with two home runs and four RBI in Thursday's spring game against the Diamondbacks. Naylor accounted for all of Cleveland's scoring with a solo homer in the second inning and a three-run shot an inning later. All the positives for Naylor's bat in 2023 (67 games, .809 OPS) reversed in 2024 (123 games, .614 OPS), as he appeared to wilt under the mantle of being the team's primary backstop. The Guardians could use the 2023 version of Naylor after losing a couple of productive hitters during the offseason, including his brother Josh Naylor.... See More ... See Less

Guardians' Bo Naylor: Out of lineup again in Game 4
Naylor is not in the lineup Friday for Game 4 of the ALCS against the Yankees, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports. The Yankees are starting a righty in Luis Gil, but the left-handed-hitting Naylor will yield to Austin Hedges at catcher for the second straight game. Naylor is hitless in his six starts this postseason but delivered a pinch hit in Thursday's comeback win.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Bo Naylor: Takes seat Sunday
Naylor is not in Sunday's lineup against the Cardinals. Naylor drew the start in the first two games of this weekend's series, going 2-for-8 with a solo home run and another run scored. Austin Hedges will start behind the dish and bat ninth.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Bo Naylor: Not in lineup
Naylor is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the White Sox. After catching both of the first two games of the series, Naylor will take a seat for Wednesday's matinee. Austin Hedges will start behind the dish as the Guardians try to complete the sweep.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Bo Naylor: Homers, swipes two bags Monday
Naylor went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two stolen bases in Monday's 5-3 win against the White Sox. Naylor belted a 428-foot homer in the fourth inning to set a new career high with 12 long balls on the campaign. The catcher also swiped a bag in both the sixth and eighth frames to record his first multi-theft game of the season. In addition, Naylor's multi-hit performance was his first since Aug. 24 -- he came in batting .174 (4-for-23) over his previous 10 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Bo Naylor: Sitting down Saturday
Naylor isn't in the Guardians' lineup for Saturday's game versus the Dodgers. After going 0-for-5 across his last two games, Naylor will take a seat Saturday while Austin Hedges catches for Gavin Williams and bats ninth.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Bo Naylor: Getting afternoon off
Naylor is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates. After going 1-for-3 while catching all nine innings of Saturday's 3-0 loss, Naylor will rest up for the series finale. Austin Hedges will check in for Naylor behind the plate.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Bo Naylor: On bench against LHP
Naylor is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Pirates. With lefty Bailey Falter taking the mound for Pittsburgh, the lefty-hitting Naylor will retreat to the bench. Austin Hedges will bat ninth and fill in for Naylor behind the dish.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Bo Naylor: Smacks homer in win
Naylor went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a hit-by-pitch in Wednesday's 7-5 win over the Royals. Naylor's seventh-inning homer sparked a rally for the Guardians. He has gone 3-for-10 over his last five games, with two of the hits in that span being solo shots. The catcher is up to 11 homers in 101 contests this season, matching his total from 67 games a year ago. He's added a .206/.267/.368 slash line, 37 RBI, 35 runs scored and four stolen bases in 2024.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Bo Naylor: Pops 10th homer
Naylor went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 13-5 win over the Rangers. Naylor's up to 10 homers on the year, three of which he's hit over his 18 games in August. Despite the slight uptick in power, he's batting just .226 (12-for-53) this month, though that's a little better than his .207 batting average for the year. The catcher has added a .626 OPS, 36 RBI, 34 runs scored and four stolen bases over 311 plate appearances. The Guardians have mostly stuck to a strict platoon at catcher between the left-handed Naylor and right-handed Austin Hedges in August, so Naylor should continue to see a healthy share of playing time.... Guardians' Bo Naylor: Out against left-hander
Naylor is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees. The Yankees are sending southpaw Nestor Cortes to the bump, so the left-handed-hitting Naylor will take a seat. Austin Hedges will start at catcher and bat ninth for the Guardians.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Bo Naylor: Sitting against righty
Naylor is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs. The lefty-hitting Naylor typically starts against right-handed pitchers like the Cubs' Jameson Taillon, but Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt will hold out his top backstop for the series finale. Naylor's absence from the lineup may be explained in part by his recent rough patch at the plate; he's slashing just .194/.194/.484 in 11 games since the beginning of August. In spite of his struggles, Naylor's spot atop the depth chart still looks to be fairly secure.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Bo Naylor: Idle versus lefty
Naylor is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cubs. With southpaw Shota Imanaga taking the hill for the Cubs, the lefty-hitting Naylor will retreat to the bench in the series opener. Austin Hedges will fill in for Naylor behind the dish.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Bo Naylor: Launches ninth homer
Naylor went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Twins. Naylor's sixth-inning blast gave the Guardians just enough breathing room for the win. The catcher has gone just 6-for-28 (.214) over his last 10 games, though he has five extra-base hits and eight RBI in that span while sharing the catching duties with Austin Hedges. For the year, Naylor is slashing .203/.264/.363 with nine homers, 33 RBI, 33 runs scored, four stolen bases, 10 doubles and two triples over 88 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Bo Naylor: Blasts three-run homer
Naylor went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Monday's 8-4 win over the Tigers. Naylor took Bryan Sammons deep in the sixth inning for his seventh homer of the year. Naylor now has three homers and eight RBI over his last 16 games after registering just four long balls and 20 RBI in his first 63 games. The 24-year-old is trending upward and should continue to get everyday at-bats down the stretch.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Bo Naylor: Sitting Saturday
Naylor is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against Philadelphia. Naylor will get a breather Saturday after going 1-for-3 with one RBI and two strikeouts in Friday's 3-1 win over Philadelphia. Austin Hedges will start behind home plate Saturday and bat ninth against Phillies right-hander Tyler Phillips.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Bo Naylor: Reaches three times in victory
Naylor went 1-for-1 with two walks, two runs and a stolen base in a 2-1 win against the Tigers on Wednesday. Naylor scored both of Cleveland's runs in the victory, with the latter accounting for the winning margin. The backstop helped manufacture that eighth-inning score, working a walk to begin the frame, stealing second base and eventually crossing the plate on a single. Naylor is batting an even .200 (8-for-40) through 17 contests in July.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Bo Naylor: On bench again
Naylor is absent from the starting nine for Tuesday's game against the Tigers. Naylor will take a seat for a third consecutive contest, with David Fry batting fourth and catching for Tuesday's series opener. Naylor is 7-for-39 (.179) with two home runs, seven RBI and five runs during July.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Bo Naylor: Out versus left-hander
Naylor is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Tigers. Southpaw Tarik Skubal will be the Tigers' starting pitching, so the left-handed-hitting Naylor will begin the contest on the bench. Austin Hedges will draw the start at catcher.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Bo Naylor: Pops homer Thursday
Naylor went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Thursday's 10-1 loss to the Tigers. Naylor produced the Guardians' lone run when he took Jack Flaherty deep in the third inning. This was Naylor's second homer in his last five games, though his playing time has taken a hit lately as he's started just three of those contests. The catcher is up to six homers with 24 RBI, 26 runs scored, two stolen bases, nine doubles, one triple and a .207/.276/.350 slash line over 225 plate appearances this season. Naylor is likely to continue sharing the catching duties with Austin Hedges, as David Fry has gotten more looks elsewhere in recent weeks.... See More ... See Less
