Suzuki went 2-for-4 with three RBI in Saturday's 10-4 loss to the Phillies. Suzuki put the Cubs on the board in the fifth inning on a two-run single, and he brought home another run in the seventh frame on a single to center field. Suzuki has logged two hits in each of his last three starts, and his 23 RBI on the season is tied for fourth most in the National League.... See More ... See Less

Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Back in action Friday
Suzuki (wrist) is batting third as the designated hitter Friday against the Phillies. Suzuki was scratched from Wednesday's starting nine due to a recurrence of a wrist issue, though he's good to go following Thursday's team off day. The 30-year-old has cooled off a bit lately with a .208 batting average (5-for-24) in his past six contests, but it's been a productive start to the campaign overall with six homers, 20 RBI, 14 runs and a .276/.354/.540 slash line in 99 plate appearances.... Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Scratched with wrist issue
Suzuki was scratched from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers due to right wrist discomfort, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports. The 30-year-old started the previous five contests after sitting out three games due to the same issue last week, but he presumably aggravated the injury during Tuesday's win while going 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI and a run. Justin Turner will step into the lineup at designated hitter while Suzuki is considered day-to-day.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Returns to lineup Wednesday
Suzuki (wrist) will start at designated hitter and bat third in Wednesday's game versus the Padres. Suzuki missed three starts with right wrist soreness but is feeling well enough to give it a go in Wednesday's series finale. The 30-year-old is sporting a .292/.390/.538 batting line with four home runs in his first 17 contests this season.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Not starting Sunday
Suzuki (wrist) is not in the Cubs' starting lineup against the Dodgers on Sunday. Suzuki left in the fifth inning of Saturday's contest after experiencing pain in his right wrist, which he originally injured against the Rangers this past Monday. Justin Turner will serve as the designated hitter and bat third against Dodgers right-hander Tyler Glasnow in the series finale.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Considered day-to-day
Cubs manager Craig Counsell said after Saturday's win over the Dodgers that Suzuki (wrist) is considered day-to-day, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports. Suzuki was lifted from Saturday's contest in the top of the fifth inning due to right wrist pain. Counsell said Suzuki initially injured the wrist Monday against the Rangers. If Suzuki is unable to play in Sunday's series finale against Los Angeles, Justin Turner would be the most logical candidate to fill in as the designated hitter.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Leaves game with wrist issue
Suzuki was removed from Saturday's game against the Dodgers due to right wrist pain, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports. Miguel Amaya pinch hit for Suzuki in the top of the fifth inning. Suzuki initially dealt with wrist discomfort earlier this month when the Cubs were in Sacramento facing the Athletics. Before leaving Saturday, Suzuki was 0-for-2 at the plate. He entered the day slashing .302/.400/.556 with four home runs, 15 RBI, 11 runs scored, one stolen base, 11 walks and a league-high 23 strikeouts.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Triples in loss
Suzuki went 2-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 6-2 loss to the Rangers. Suzuki collected half of Chicago's four hits as he continued a streak of strong performances. The outfielder now has three straight multi-hit games, and he's gone 7-for-11 overall during the hot stretch. For the season, Suzuki is now batting an even .300 to go along with a stellar .970 OPS, giving him plenty of fantasy appeal.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Contributes to easy win Monday
Suzuki went 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored in Monday's 7-0 win over the Rangers. He also stole a base. Suzuki had a good all-around effort Monday, which included his first stolen base of the season. The outfielder isn't a huge speed threat, though he did have a career-high 16 steals a season ago. If Suzuki gets a little more aggressive on the bases in 2025, he could be poised for his first campaign with 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases. He reached the 20-homer plateau in each of the last two years.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Drills two homers Wednesday
Suzuki went 3-for-5 with one walk, two home runs and five RBI in Wednesday's 10-2 win over the Athletics. Suzuki gave the Cubs a 4-0 lead in the second inning when he took Jeffrey Springs deep for a three-run homer. Suzuki smacked a solo home run in the fourth frame before knocking in his fifth run of the day in the seventh on an RBI single. The 30-year-old struggled to open the season with just two hits in his first five games, but over his last four outings he's gone 9-for-19 with three walks, four home runs and 11 RBI.... See More ... Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Expected to be primary DH
Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Saturday at the Cubs Convention fan event that Suzuki will be the team's designated hitter "a lot" this season, Tony Andracki of Marquee Sports Network reports. Suzuki has said that he prefers to play the outfield, but with Ian Happ, Pete Crow-Armstrong and Kyle Tucker slated for everyday roles in that capacity this coming season, Suzuki's path to regular playing time is at DH. Counsell noted he spoke to Suzuki about the plan last week and the 30-year-old is on board. While he will be the Cubs' primary DH in 2025, Suzuki should still see enough action in the outfield to retain eligibility there for fantasy in 2026.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Reaches four times in return
Suzuki (ankle) went 2-for-2 with two walks and a run scored in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Reds. Suzuki missed the last two games due to a sprained ankle he sustained during Tuesday's contest, but he looked fully healthy Saturday. The outfielder has had another productive season, and he's set new career highs with 21 home runs and 16 stolen bases. Suzuki needs one more run and RBI in the last game of the year to match his career bests in those categories as well. His current .850 OPS would also be a new career high.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Back in action
Suzuki (ankle) will serve as the Cubs' designated hitter and bat fourth Saturday against the Reds. Suzuki sprained his ankle during Tuesday's game against Philadelphia, but he'll now return to the starting nine following a two-game absence. The 30-year-old has been extremely hot at the plate recently, recording a hit in 13 of his last 14 games while slashing .364/.462/.545 in that span.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Nabs steal Tuesday
Suzuki went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Tuesday's 5-0 loss to the Pirates. Suzuki has hit safely in 10 of his last 13 games, going 20-for-54 (.370) with eight extra-base hits and three steals in that span. The outfielder is up to 13 steals on 18 attempts this season, which is a career high that comes despite him dealing with an oblique issue earlier in the season. Suzuki has a .275/.350/.485 slash line with 19 home runs, 64 RBI, 64 runs scored, 23 doubles and six triples over 112 contests, and he's been an everyday designated hitter in recent weeks.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Smacks two doubles
Suzuki went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two walks and two runs scored in Sunday's win against Washington. Suzuki belted two doubles to give him yet another multi-hit game, his seventh over his past 11 contests. During that span, Suzuki is slashing a scorching .396/.472/.708 with eight extra-base hits, eight RBI, 12 runs scored and two stolen bases in 55 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Goes deep twice in win
Suzuki went 3-for-5 with two home runs, a triple, four RBI and three runs in Saturday's 14-2 win against the Marlins. Suzuki snapped a streak of 17 games without a home run in style with his first multi-homer effort of the season. Overall, it's his third career multi-homer game, the fourth most by a Japanese-born player. Suzuki had been struggling with just four extra-base hits over that 17-game homeless stretch, so the three Saturday were a welcome sight. Despite missing some time due to injury, the 30-year-old has put together another nice season with an .830 OPS through 103 games.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Triples, scores in loss
Suzuki went 1-for-3 with a walk, a triple and a run scored in Wednesday's 6-1 loss to the Guardians. Suzuki tallied his fifth triple of the season in the fourth inning on a sharp line drive to center field. The 29-year-old has been displaying a bit more speed this year, as he's already recorded a career-high 10 stolen bases, and the five triples are one away from matching his career best. Suzuki also has 16 home runs and an .814 OPS, making him a well-rounded fantasy asset once again in 2024.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Dealing with minor neck issue
Suzuki is out of Monday's lineup due to neck stiffness but is expected to be back in the starting nine for Tuesday's game against Minnesota, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports. Suzuki was slated for a day off Sunday but manager Craig Counsell kept him in the lineup after Ian Happ was scratched with shoulder soreness. Instead, Suzuki will get the night off Monday with the expectation of playing Tuesday.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Getting rare night off
Suzuki is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Twins. Suzuki will exit the lineup for the first time since June 8 in Cincinnati, when he took a seat while he managed an oblique injury. With Suzuki heading to the bench, Mike Tauchman will make a second straight start, this time replacing Suzuki in right field after previously filling in for an injured Ian Happ (shoulder) in Sunday's win over the Cardinals.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Drives in three Wednesday
Suzuki went 2-for-5 with two doubles, a run scored and three RBI in Wednesday's 13-4 win over the Reds. Suzuki recorded his second straight two-hit effort and fifth in his last seven games. The hot streak has pushed his season batting average up to .270 and he now has 52 RBI as well. Suzuki posted career bests with a .285 average and 74 RBI a year ago, and while he'll need a strong finish to reach both those marks, he should remain a solid fantasy contributor as long as he stays healthy....
