Westbrook saw regular reps at second base against left-handed pitching but did little with them, going just 2-for-22 at the plate this month. Nick Sogard was called up from Triple-A Worcester and will replace Westbrook on the 26-man active roster as the short-side platoon mate for David Hamilton at the keystone.

Westbrook didn't play in 2020 after the minor-league season was cancelled, but the 25-year-old will attempt to revive his baseball career in 2021 with a new organization. Before attending spring training in 2020 with the Giants and being released in the summer, Westbrook had played exclusively in Arizona's organization. He split time between Triple-A Reno and Double-A Jackson in 2019, slashing .281/.358/.451 across 448 at-bats.
