Royals' Jeison Guzman: Rejoining Kansas City
Guzman signed a minor-league deal with the Royals on Wednesday, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.
The 22-year-old was non-tendered by the Royals in early December to create space on the 40-man roster, but he'll rejoin the club on a MiLB deal. Guzman was in the majors for a few days during 2020, but he didn't see game action and spent most of the season at the alternate training site. He was at Low-A Lexington in 2019 and had a .253/.296/.373 slash line with seven homers and 15 stolen bases in 121 games.

Royals' Jeison Guzman: Called up by Royals
Guzman was called up by the Royals on Tuesday, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.
Guzman was added to the Royals' 40-man roster over the winter to protect him from the Rule 5 draft despite the fact that he'd never played above Low-A. He's now set to make his big-league debut, though expectations should presumably be quite low for him given the dramatic jump he's set to make. He hasn't even had much success in the minors, posting a career .245/.306/.345 slash line.

Royals' Jeison Guzman: Beginning year at High-A
Guzman was optioned to High-A Wilmington on March 10.
Guzman was one of the first attendees from the Royals' big-league camp to get sent to the minors, an unsurprising development given that he has yet to play above Low-A ball. He'll at least move up to the Carolina League when the season gets underway, despite performing at a slightly below average level over his 181 career games with Low-A Lexington.
