Bellozo allowed at least one man to reach base in three of the first five innings but managed to work his way out of the jam on each occasion as the Marlins jumped out to a 4-0 lead. However, the Twins finally got to the right-hander in the sixth when Carlos Correa launched a solo homer to lead off the frame. Bellozo then got the hook after giving up a single to the next batter, marking the fourth consecutive start in which he has failed to make it through six innings. However, the 24-year-old also hasn't allowed more than three runs in any of his five starts this month, giving him a strong 2.67 ERA in September to go along with a 12:6 K:BB.

Making his fourth career big-league start, Bellozo fell just short of recording his first career quality start as well as his first win, getting lifted after 92 pitches (56 strikes). The 24-year-old right-hander has given the Marlins at least five innings in each of his outings so far, producing an impressive 3.05 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 19:5 K:BB through 20.2 innings despite a fastball that barely averages 90 mph. It's doubtful he'll be able to keep getting by much longer with smoke and mirrors, but Miami's injury-ravaged rotation will take all the help it can get. Bellozo is scheduled to make his next start on the road early next week in Philadelphia.

The two earned runs on Bellozo's ledger were Merrifield -- who later scored on an Austin Riley RBI groundout -- and a solo homer allowed to Orlando Arcia in the fifth.
