Yankees' Michael Arias: Back with Yankees on MiLB deal
The Yankees re-signed Arias to a minor-league contract Wednesday.
Arias missed a chunk of the 2025 season due to injury, holding a 2.57 ERA and 29:15 K:BB over 21 frames during his time at Double-A Somerset. He had been non-tendered by the Yankees last week but will stick around in the organization on a new minor-league pact.

Michael Arias: Non-tendered by Pinstripes
The Yankees non-tendered Arias on Friday.
After missing the first several months of the season with an undisclosed injury, Arias turned in a 2.57 ERA and 1.62 WHIP over 21 innings at Double-A Somerset. The Yankees will now allow the 24-year-old to pursue an opportunity elsewhere that may offer more upward mobility through the minor leagues, freeing up a 40-man roster spot in the process.

Yankees' Michael Arias: Activated from minor-league IL
The Yankees activated Arias (undisclosed) from the 7-day minor-league injured list Saturday and transferred him to Double-A Somerset.
Arias landed on the minor-league IL in April but was able to begin a minor-league rehab assignment in late June. In six games between the organization's Florida Complex League, Single-A and High-A affiliates, the righty hurler posted a 3.12 ERA, 0.69 WHIP and 7:2 K:BB over 8.2 innings. Arias spent most of 2024 with the Cubs' Triple-A squad, and he could progress to that level with the Yankees before the end of the campaign if he makes a good impression at Somerset.

Yankees' Michael Arias: On IL at Triple-A
Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre placed Arias on the 7-day injured list March 28.
The hard-throwing righty was dealt from the Cubs to the Yankees in exchange for cash in January after the Cubs had designated Arias for assignment. The days of Arias starting are over, but he had eight strikeouts and one walk in five one-inning spring training appearances and could develop into a high-leverage reliever in a couple years.

Yankees' Michael Arias: Optioned to Triple-A
The Yankees optioned Arias to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.
The Yankees acquired Arias from the Cubs in January, and he'll officially be headed to Triple-A to begin his tenure with his new organization. The 23-year-old reached Triple-A for the first time last season, finishing with a 5.45 ERA and 2.11 WHIP across 36.1 innings at Iowa.

Yankees' Michael Arias: Headed to Bronx
The Yankees acquired Arias from the Cubs on Wednesday in exchange for cash considerations.
Arias was designated for assignment earlier this week and is now on the move to a new organization. The 23-year-old held a 4.77 ERA and walked 48 over 60.1 innings between Double-A Tennessee and Triple-A Iowa in 2024, but he also struck out 72 and offers good stuff from a sidearm delivery. The Yankees will be tasked with getting him to throw more strikes, and if they're able to, he might be a sneaky addition.

Cubs' Michael Arias: Exits 40-man roster
The Cubs designated Arias for assignment Monday, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the signing of Colin Rea. Arias, 23, made a full-time move to relief in 2024 and split the season between Double-A Tennessee and Triple-A Iowa, compiling a 4.77 ERA and 72:48 K:BB over 60.1 innings.

Cubs' Michael Arias: Optioned to Double-A
Arias was optioned to Double-A Tennessee by the Cubs on Friday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Arias netted a 40-man roster spot this offseason but didn't have a real chance of breaking camp with the big club. The 22-year-old has yet to advance past A-ball but should open 2024 in Tennessee's rotation.
