  • Angels' Kelvin Caceres: On mend from season-ending surgery

Caceres underwent season-ending surgery in March to address a right lat strain, MLB.com reports.

Caceres suffered the injury in spring training and opened the season on Triple-A Salt Lake's 60-day injured list. The Angels recalled Caceres on May 9, but the move was merely procedural, as he was simultaneously placed on the big club's 60-day IL for the purpose of opening up a spot on the 40-man roster. Caceres, who made two relief appearances for the Angels in 2023, should be back to full health -- or close to it -- for the start of spring training in 2025.

  • Angels' Kelvin Caceres: Placed on MLB 60-day IL

The Angels recalled Caceres (lat) from Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday and placed him on the 60-day injured list.

Caceres had already been on the 60-day IL at Salt Lake due to a strained right lat, but his move will create room for Niko Goodrum, who was claimed off waivers from the Rays on Thursday. Caceres has yet to make an appearance on the mound this season, and he will likely return to Triple-A once he fully recovers.

  • Angels' Kelvin Caceres: Out with lat injury at Triple-A

Caceres was placed on the 60-day injured list at Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday with a right lat injury, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

The reliever will now miss at least the first two months of the season while rehabbing. Caceres made two appearances with the Angels last season and should contribute at some point in 2024, but he'll need to get healthy first.

  • Angels' Kelvin Caceres: Moved to Triple-A

The Angels optioned Caceres to Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday.

Caceras turned in a 4.12 ERA and 1.37 WHIP over 54.2 innings across three minor-league levels last season, in addition to appearing in two games with the Halos. The 24-year-old righty put together a solid spring, surrendering one run over five innings while striking out five batters and walking two. If Caceres is able to continue pitching well at Triple-A, he likely won't have to wait long for another promotion to the big-league bullpen.
