  • Reds' Ty Floyd: Sidelined at Single-A

Single-A Daytona placed Floyd on its 7-day injured list May 21 due to an unspecified injury.

Floyd didn't pitch at all in 2024 while recovering from shoulder surgery, but he was cleared for the start of the 2025 season before hitting the shelf with the unspecified injury. The 23-year-old righty turned in a 3.25 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 31:11 K:BB in 27.2 innings over eight starts prior to getting shut down.

  • Reds' Ty Floyd: Back in action after surgery

Floyd (shoulder) made his 2025 debut with Single-A Daytona on Saturday, covering two innings and striking out two while allowing two earned runs on two hits and one walk.

The appearance also marked the professional debut of Floyd, the No. 38 overall pick in the 2023 First-Year Player Draft. After tossing 91 innings during his final season of college at LSU, Floyd was held out of game action in 2023, and he then missed time due to an elbow injury last spring before undergoing shoulder surgery sometime shortly thereafter. The 23-year-old was fortunate to avoid any setbacks this spring, and though he's now healthy to begin the 2025 campaign, the Reds will likely monitor his innings closely throughout the season.

  • Reds' Ty Floyd: Recovering from shoulder surgery

Floyd had shoulder surgery and won't pitch again until 2025, Carlos Collazo of Baseball America reports.

It's not clear exactly when Floyd had the procedure, but he opened the year on the injured list with right elbow discomfort and never pitched before needing shoulder surgery. Depending on the severity of the procedure, Floyd may not be ready for the start of the 2025 campaign. He still hasn't made his pro debut after the Reds selected him with the 38th overall pick in the 2023 draft.

  • Reds' Ty Floyd: Out with sore elbow

Floyd is on the 60-day injured list with the Reds' Arizona Complex League affiliate due to elbow discomfort, Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com reports.

Floyd is expected to get on the mound this year, per Mayo, but the Reds wanted to give him time to fully heal and build back up in Arizona before competitive action. This is still a pretty scary injury designation for a pitcher who hasn't debuted since the Reds selected him out of LSU with the 38th pick in last year's draft.
