  • Diamondbacks' Tyler Locklear: Activated, optioned to Triple-A

The Diamondbacks activated Locklear (shoulder/elbow) from the 10-day injured list Friday and optioned him to Triple-A Reno.

Locklear has completed the rehab from his elbow and shoulder operations and homered in his first rehab game at Reno. However, with the emergence of Ildemaro Vargas at first base and Carlos Santana (thigh) also due back soon, Locklear will remain at Reno for now.

  • Diamondbacks' Tyler Locklear: Embarking on rehab assignment

The Diamondbacks assigned Locklear (elbow) to a rehab assignment in the Arizona Complex League on Saturday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Locklear underwent surgery in October to repair the labrum in his left shoulder and a torn ligament in his left elbow. He opened the season on the 10-day injured list, and he has progressed enough in his recovery to start a rehab assignment. Once Locklear gets some reps in the ACL, the Diamondbacks should have a better sense of when the 25-year-old will be ready to return to the majors. He appeared in 31 games for the Diamondbacks in 2025 and slashed .175/.267/.262 with three steals, three home runs and six RBI over 116 plate appearances.

  • Diamondbacks' Tyler Locklear: Taking live at-bats

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Thursday that Locklear (elbow) is taking live at-bats and "trending in a positive direction," Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports reports.

Lovullo said the club may take another image of Locklear's elbow to ensure there are no setbacks as he takes the next steps in his rehab from elbow and shoulder surgeries. A rehab assignment will certainly take place, at which point, the team will get a better idea of his return timeline.

  • Diamondbacks' Tyler Locklear: Shelved to begin season

The Diamondbacks placed Locklear (elbow) on the 10-day injured list Wednesday.

Locklear was held out for the entirety of spring training while recovering from Oct. 16 surgeries to repair the labrum in his left shoulder and a torn ligament in his left elbow. He's not expected to be ready to return from IL until around mid-May to early June.

  • Diamondbacks' Tyler Locklear: Aiming for mid-May return

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Sunday that Locklear (shoulder/elbow) is trending toward a return around mid-May to early June, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Locklear will be a spectator for spring training while he continues to recover from Oct. 16 surgeries to address a torn labrum in his left shoulder and a torn ligament in his left elbow. Before suffering the two arm injuries in a Sept. 7 collision at first base with Boston's Connor Wong, Locklear slashed .175/.267/.262 with a 37.1 percent strikeout rate over 116 plate appearances with Arizona after coming over from Seattle in a trade-deadline deal. Locklear has a minor-league option remaining, so he could end up sticking around with Arizona's Triple-A affiliate in Reno once he completes his rehab process and gets activated from the injured list.

  • Diamondbacks' Tyler Locklear: Scheduled for surgery

Locklear will undergo surgeries to repair his left labrum and a torn ligament in his left elbow Oct. 16, Alex D'Agostino of SI.com reports.

Locklear's season ended in early September due to inflammation in his elbow, and now that he's received his diagnosis following a round of imaging, he will officially have to undergo multiple operations. It's unclear how long it will take for the 24-year-old first baseman to recover, but he is expected to return at some point during the 2026 campaign. A more accurate timeline may emerge after he goes under the knife.
