Neto went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, an additional run and a double against Houston in a 6-2 win Friday.
Neto capped the scoring in the victory with a solo shot in the ninth inning. The talented young shortstop went 0-for-5 in the Angels' season opener Thursday, but he turned things around with the two extra-base hits one game later. Neto is among fantasy's most coveted shortstops after recording a .793 OPS with 26 homers and 26 stolen bases over 128 contests last year.

Angels' Zach Neto: Fine after HBP
Neto was removed from Friday's Cactus League game against the White Sox after being hit by a pitch, but he is OK, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
The 25-year-old shortstop was plunked to lead off the bottom of the first inning, but it never seemed to be a serious issue as he remained in to run the bases and recorded a steal. Neto was then replaced by a pinch hitter in a precautionary move, which makes sense given that he recently returned from a wrist sprain that sidelined him for a couple days.

Angels' Zach Neto: Returning to action Tuesday
Neto (wrist) will play in Tuesday's Cactus League game against the Cubs, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
The 25-year-old sustained a left wrist sprain on a slide into home plate Saturday and was initially expected to play in a minor-league game Tuesday, but the Angels instead decided to push his return to Wednesday. Neto has been feeling good in his workouts, however, and was able to convince the club to let him play in Tuesday's Cactus League contest. He totaled 26 home runs and 26 steals with a career-best .793 OPS in 128 games last season.

Angels' Zach Neto: Return to action pushed to Wednesday
Neto (wrist) is now expected to return to game action with the Angels on Wednesday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Neto seems to be doing fine after spraining his left wrist while sliding into home plate Saturday against Seattle. The star shortstop took batting practice on the field Monday, and manager Kurt Suzuki said he was impressed with Neto's session. The team initially considered having Neto play in a minor-league game Tuesday but changed course because that contest is an A-ball matchup, which could increase the risk of Neto getting hit by a pitcher with poor command. Instead, Neto is slated to take part in a Cactus League game Wednesday. At this point, it looks like he'll be fine for Opening Day.

Angels' Zach Neto: Taking batting practice Monday
Neto (wrist) will hit off the tee and take live batting practice Monday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Neto also clarified that he sustained a small sprain to his left wrist, not the hand, as previously reported Saturday. The shortstop said that he's feeling good, and he expects to play Tuesday, either in a minor-league game or in the Angels' Cactus League contest versus the Cubs, per Fletcher. Neto should have plenty of time this week to pick up more at-bats and get himself ready for Opening Day.

Angels' Zach Neto: Managing minor hand sprain
Neto said Sunday that X-rays on his injured left hand came back negative, and he expects to return to the Angels' Cactus League lineup within a few days, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Neto suffered the injury while sliding into home plate Saturday in a 6-2 win over the Mariners. Though a left hand strain had kept him out for the final two weeks of the 2025 season, the shortstop relayed that he's now dealing with a small sprain to the same hand, which is regarded as a more minor concern. Neto is expected to resume workouts in the coming days once the pain in his hand subsides, and if he's able to field his position and swing the bat without discomfort, he should soon get the green light to play in games.

Angels' Zach Neto: Injures left hand Saturday
Neto injured his left hand during Saturday's Cactus League game against the Mariners, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Neto sustained the injury while sliding into home plate, and manager Kurt Suzuki told reporters after Saturday's game the the shortstop will undergo more tests to determine the severity of the injury. Neto landed on the 10-day injured list toward the tail end of the 2025 season due to a left hand strain, and this most recent injury puts the 25-year-old shortstop in jeopardy of missing extended time. If that were to be the case, then the Angels would likely turn to Oswald Peraza or Vaughn Grissom (calf) to fill in at shortstop for as long as Neto is out of action.

Neto closed the 2025 season on the 10-day injured list due to a left hand strain, but the injury was never viewed as a long-term concern. The shortstop was also shelved at the start of the 2025 campaign while recovering from right shoulder surgery, so a healthy spring training would be a welcome change for the 25-year-old.

Angels' Zach Neto: Nets $4.15 million deal
Neto (hand) agreed to a one-year, $4.15 million contract with the Angels on Thursday to avoid arbitration, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
It's a significant raise for the 24-year-old shortstop, who is entering his first year of arbitration eligibility. Neto had a late start to 2025 due to a shoulder injury and missed the final two weeks of the season with a hand issue, but he was productive when available with 26 home runs, 26 steals and a .793 OPS in 128 contests.

Angels' Zach Neto: Lands on injured list
The Angels placed Neto on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to Sept. 13, due to a left hand strain.
The 24-year-old shortstop hasn't seen the field since Thursday due to the injury. While Neto will technically be eligible to return for the final six contests of the regular season, the Angels will opt to shut down for the rest of the year, per Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com. The 24-year-old will close out 2025 with a .257/.319/.474 slash line, 26 homers, 26 stolen bases, 62 RBI and 82 runs in 128 games.
