White Sox's Lenyn Sosa: Out of Opening Day lineup
Sosa won't be in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Brewers, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.
Sosa slashed .261/.314/.522 with two homers, 11 RBI and six runs scored across 51 plate appearances in the Cactus League and is expected to begin the year as the White Sox's primary DH, but he will remain on the bench during the team's season opener. Andrew Benintendi will serve as the designated hitter instead while Austin Hays, Luisangel Acuna and Everson Pereira start across the outfield.

White Sox's Lenyn Sosa: Could be on roster bubble
Sosa does not have a set defensive home entering the 2026 season and is on the White Sox's roster bubble, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Sosa started 99 games at second base and 42 at first base for the White Sox in 2025, and he was an exactly league-average hitter with a 100 wRC+ across 544 plate appearances. However, the emergence of Chase Meidroth and the signing of Munetaka Murakami will push Sosa out of those roles entering 2026. Also hurting Sosa is his lack of defensive value at any position, as he registered minus-10 defensive runs saved at second last season. Sosa is out of minor-league options.

White Sox's Lenyn Sosa: Homer, three RBI in win
Sosa went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and three RBI in Friday's 10-9 win over the Nationals.
Sosa fell a triple shy of the cycle and drove in runs on three separate occasions, including on a solo homer in the fourth inning. The 25-year-old has hit safely in four of his past five games, tallying three extra-base hits and five RBI in that span. For the season, he's slashing .263/.292/.433 with 22 home runs, 75 RBI, 55 runs scored and two steals across 536 plate appearances.

Sosa went 2-for-4 with a homer, a walk, three RBI and an additional run scored in Sunday's 6-4 victory over the Tigers.
The 25-year-old Venezuelan walloped a titanic 451-foot solo shot off Detroit starter Charlie Morton in the third to tie the contest at 3-3. Sosa has been a great source of power since the All-Star break, launching 11 long balls while batting .256 (44-for-172) with 34 RBI and 23 runs scored in 44 games. Across 485 total plate appearances, the Chicago infielder is now slashing .263/.295/.435 with 65 RBI and 50 runs scored.

While his overall counting stats are unimpressive, Sosa has quietly posted a .171 ISO and .732 OPS across 468 plate appearances on the season.
