White Sox's Hunter Schryver: Back from Tommy John surgery
Schryver (elbow) has made seven appearances out of the Triple-A Charlotte bullpen this season, giving up five earned runs on seven hits and five walks over 9.2 innings.
Schryver underwent Tommy John surgery in February 2020, but he didn't end up missing any actual game action due to the cancellation of the minor-league season. The lefty made rapid progress in his recovery, gaining full clearance for the start of the 2021 Triple-A season in early May for a procedure that often sidelines pitchers for up to 18 months. Schryver has shown spotty control in his initial action post-surgery, but the White Sox are likely just happy to see the 26-year-old back on the mound again.

Schryver (elbow) underwent successful Tommy John surgery Thursday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
The southpaw is expected to make a full recovery in 12-to-18 months, keeping him out of commission for the entire 2020 season and likely a good portion of 2021 as well. Schryver split the 2019 campaign between Triple-A Charlotte and Double-A Binghamton, turning in a 4.04 ERA and 1.48 WHIP across 41 relief appearances between the two stops.

The 24-year-old reached the Triple-A level for the first time last season, striking out an impressive 23 batters in 13.2 innings but also walking 12 batters and allowing 13 runs. Recovery from the procedure should keep him out of game action until the middle of the 2021 season.
