  • Yankees' Tim Hill: Option for 2026 picked up

The Yankees exercised Hill's $3 million option for 2026 on Wednesday, Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com reports.

Hill has made 105 regular-season appearances for the Yankees since 2024, collecting a 2.68 ERA and 55:25 K:BB over 111 innings. The southpaw reliever posted a 63.7 percent groundball rate and held left-handed batters to a .181/.224/.220 line during the 2025 regular season.

  • Yankees' Tim Hill: Secures hold Wednesday

Hill earned a hold against the Rangers on Wednesday, allowing one hit and striking out one batter without giving up any runs over two-thirds of an inning.

Hill handled the seventh inning and saw two runners get on base against him -- one on a single and another on catcher's interference. He departed after notching two outs, and Yerry De Los Santos was able to finish the frame without allowing either of the inherited runners to score. Hill had a rough start to the second half, but he's back on the right track with five consecutive scoreless appearances. Overall, he has a 2.63 ERA, a 1.01 WHIP, 13 holds and a 27:13 K:BB over 51.1 frames spanning 54 outings this season.

  • Yankees' Tim Hill: Registers 10th hold

Hill earned a hold against Atlanta on Sunday, allowing one hit and striking out one batter in one scoreless inning.

Hill handled the eighth inning Sunday, throwing 10 of 11 pitches for strikes and working around a one-out single to set up closer Devin Williams with a two-run lead. The left-handed Hill is up to 10 holds on the campaign, his most since the 2021 season, when he was with San Diego. Five of those holds have come over his past 11 outings, a span in which he's recorded a 2.31 ERA with a 7:1 K:BB across 11.2 frames.

  • Yankees' Tim Hill: In midst of scoreless streak

Hill hasn't given up an earned run in any of his past 12 outings spanning 11 innings.

During the streak, Hill has posted a modest 5:3 K:BB but has given up only seven hits and one unearned run. The lefty reliever also has two holds during that span, though he isn't a major source of holds with just five through 34 outings on the campaign. Hill has also posted a 2.51 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 18:9 K:BB across 32.1 innings overall this season.

  • Yankees' Tim Hill: Fans three in relief

Hill tossed 1.2 perfect innings against San Francisco on Sunday, striking out three batters.

Though Hill didn't enter in a save or hold situation, his outing came at a critical juncture of the game, as the Giants had put two runners on base while holding a two-run lead with one out in the eighth inning before the lefty was summoned. Hill handled the situation with aplomb, retiring all five batters he faced on 19 pitches (15 of which were strikes). Hill has been solid in relief for New York this season, posting a 3.68 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 7:2 K:BB over 7.1 innings while picking up two holds.

  • Yankees' Tim Hill: Back to NYY on one-year deal

The Yankees re-signed Hill to a one-year, $2.5 million contract Tuesday that includes a $3 million club option for 2026, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

The buyout on the option is $350,000, so Hill will be guaranteed at least $2.85 million. Hill was released by the White Sox last June after putting up a 5.87 ERA and 13:10 K:BB over 23 innings. However, he quickly latched on with the Yankees and posted a 2.05 ERA and 1.02 WHIP over his final 44 regular-season innings before allowing just one earned run over 10 playoff appearances. The southpaw reliever should get some high-leverage work for the Yankees.

  • Yankees' Tim Hill: Notches hold Tuesday

Hill earned a hold against Texas on Tuesday by retiring both batters he faced, striking out one.

Hill hasn't worked in many high-leverage situations this season, but he was brought in Tuesday with New York hanging onto a two-run lead and the bases loaded with one out in the eighth frame. The lefty got the job done, allowing a sacrifice fly before striking out Jonah Heim to keep the Yankees in the lead. It was just the second hold of the season for Hill and his first since coming over to New York on June 20. He's been effective with the Yankees, posting a 2.34 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 13:6 K:BB while picking up three wins over 27 appearances covering 34.2 innings.

  • Yankees' Tim Hill: Heading to The Bronx

The Yankees signed Hill to a one-year contract Thursday.

Hill was cut loose by the White Sox earlier this week after collecting a 5.87 ERA and 13:10 K:BB over 23 innings. He wasn't out of a job long, however, and will go directly onto the Yankees' major-league roster. Hill has had a rough two-year stretch, but he's been an effective reliever in the past, and the Yankees will see if the 34-year-old has more in the tank.

  • Tim Hill: Released by White Sox

The White Sox released Hill on Tuesday.

Hill cleared waivers after being designated for assignment and is now free to sign with another organization. The veteran reliever posted a 5.87 ERA and 13:10 K:BB over 23 innings for the White Sox this season.
