McDowell represented an extra glove for the Phillies' pitchers to throw to this spring but never had a real shot to make the club. He'll provide some organizational depth in the minors.

Yankees' Max McDowell: Reassigned to alternate camp
McDowell was transferred to New York's alternate camp site Thursday.
McDowell signed with the Yankees in June but was never expected to compete for a spot on the team's active roster. He spent 2019 with Double-A Biloxi and hit .213/.333/.314 in 315 plate appearances.

Yankees' Max McDowell: Latches on with Yankees
McDowell signed with the Yankees on Sunday was was added to the team's 60-man player pool.
As a member of the Brewers organization last year, McDowell slashed .213/.333/.314 in 315 plate appearances with Double-A Biloxi.
