Rangers' Nick Gardewine: Tagged for two runs Thursday
Gardewine recorded one out and was charged with two runs on one hit and one walk in Thursday's 10-4 loss to the Mariners.
Since being recalled from Double-A Frisco on Sept. 3, Gardewine has surprisingly been one of the higher-usage relievers for the Rangers, making six appearances in less than two weeks. He hasn't picked up holds in any of those contests and sports a 6.23 ERA and 1.62 WHIP over that span, however, so it's not expected that he'll settle into a high-leverage role out of the bullpen anytime soon.

The Rangers recalled Gardewine from Double-A Frisco on Sunday.
Since Gardewine had been optioned to Frisco on Aug. 25 and wouldn't be eligible to return to the big club until 10 days after the fact under normal circumstances, the Rangers were able to speed up his arrival by placing Adrian Beltre (hamstring) on the 10-day disabled list in a corresponding move. Gardewine, who gave up three unearned runs while recording two outs in his MLB debut Aug. 22, is expected to pitch mostly in lower-leverage scenarios throughout the final month of the regular season.
