    Wells has been added to the Nationals' 60-man player pool, Jessica Camerato of MLB.com reports.

    Despite having been drafted by Toronto in 2014, Wells has yet to pitch above High-A in his career, so his presence in the 60-man pool is a little hard to explain. The southpaw will provide the Nats with some emergency bullpen depth.

    Wells was sent from Seattle to Washington along with cash considerations in exchange for Austin Adams on Saturday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

    Wells was taken by the Blue Jays with a third-round pick back in 2014. The lefty has an unimpressive 5.28 ERA as a professional and a 7.91 mark in five starts for High-A Modesto this season.
