Braves' Brandon Brennan: Latches on with Atlanta
Brennan signed a minor-league deal with Atlanta in March, Chris Hilburn-Trenkle reports.
Brennan spent the 2021 season in the Boston organization, but he spent nearly all of his time at Triple-A. He struggled to a 5.97 ERA and 1.59 WHIP while walking 15 across only 37.2 frames. Brennan is likely to spend the majority of the season at Triple-A Gwinnett, assuming he sticks in the Atlanta organization.

Red Sox's Brandon Brennan: Designated for assignment
Brennan was designated for assignment by the Red Sox on Sunday.
Brennan was called up to Boston on Thursday and fared well in his lone appearance, allowing three hits in three scoreless innings Saturday against the Blue Jays. However, since he would likely be unavailable to pitch the next few days, the Red Sox decided to add another arm to their bullpen in Ryan Weber, ultimately leaving Brennan as the odd man out on the 26-man and 40-man rosters.

Red Sox's Brandon Brennan: Claimed and optioned by Boston
Brennan was claimed off waivers by the Red Sox on Monday and optioned to Triple-A Worcester.
Brennan will get to stick around on a 40-man roster after getting designated for assignment by the Mariners on Wednesday, though he won't be making his season debut just yet. He owns a respectable 4.45 ERA in 54.2 innings at the major-league level over the past two seasons, so he can probably fill at least a low-leverage role for the Red Sox at some point. Ryan Brasier (calf) was transferred to the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move.

Brennan was optioned to the minors Monday, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.

Mariners' Brandon Brennan: Put right to work
Brennan (oblique), who was activated from the injured list Tuesday, allowed an earned run on a solo home run and also surrendered another hit and a walk over two innings in a loss to the Giants on Wednesday. He also recorded a strikeout.
The right-hander was able to pitch in after starter Ljay Newsome lasted just three innings. Brennan hadn't made an appearance since the second game of the season due to his oblique injury. The fact he was able to log 34 pitches in his first game back supports the notion he's at full health and ready to take on a multi-inning relief role for what remains of the regular season.

Mariners' Brandon Brennan: Activated by Seattle
Brennan (oblique) was reinstated from the 45-day injured list Tuesday.
Brennan was placed on the injured list just after the season began, but he was cleared to face live hitters over the weekend. He'll now be available out of the bullpen for the final games of the regular season. He should pitch as a middle reliever initially, but the right-hander could take on a higher-leverage role if he performs well early on.

Mariners' Brandon Brennan: Nearing season debut
The Mariners are expected to activate Brennan (oblique) from the 45-day injured list within the next few days, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
Of the seven Seattle relievers on the 45-day IL, Brennan is the only pitcher that has a chance to return before the season ends. The strained oblique has kept Brennan on the shelf all season, but he was cleared to face hitters over the weekend and should be ready to join the big club before the end of the week. Though Brennan will likely serve as a middle reliever initially, he could quickly move into higher-leverage work if he impresses in his first handful of appearances.

Mariners' Brandon Brennan: Facing live hitters
Brennan (oblique) is throwing to live batters at the alternate training site Friday, Lauren Smith of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
The 29-year-old was previously rehabbing at the Mariners' spring training facility so he wouldn't count against the 60-player pool, but he's now working out at the alternate training site. Brennan has yet to see the field this season due to the left oblique strain, but he may be able to return soon if he's currently facing live hitters.

Mariners' Brandon Brennan: Continues rehabbing in Peoria
Brennan (oblique) is throwing regularly at the Mariners' spring training facility in Peoria, Arizona, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
Brennan isn't yet at the alternate training site in Tacoma so as not to count against the 60-man player pool. The right-hander still has plenty of time to eventually make his way there and face live hitters, considering he's not eligible for activation from the injured list until mid-September.

Mariners' Brandon Brennan: Shifts to 45-day IL
Brennan (oblique) was transferred to the 45-day injured list Saturday, Lauren Smith of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
The 29-year-old was placed on the 10-day IL earlier in the week with a left oblique strain, and he's now looking at an extended absence. Brennan doesn't have an official timeline for his return, but he won't be eligible to be activated until mid-September.

Mariners' Brandon Brennan: Out with oblique strain
Brennan landed on the 10-day injured list with a strained left oblique Monday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
The move was made retroactive to Sunday, so Brennan could return as soon as next Wednesday, though it's not yet clear if he's expected to do so. Taylor Guilbeau was recalled to take his place in the bullpen.

Mariners' Brandon Brennan: In contention for bullpen spot
Brennan was still in contention for a bullpen spot on the Opening Day roster when spring training was suspended, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.
Brennan made a strong case to stick on the Opening Day roster by allowing just one unearned run on three hits across 5.2 innings over five Cactus League appearances. The 28-year-old right-hander made it to the majors for the first time last season following a minor-league career that dated back to 2012, and he was relied on heavily by manager Scott Servais. Brennan logged 44 appearances overall, posting eight holds and a 24.0 percent strikeout rate across 47.1 frames. Given his strong performance this spring, Brennan looks set to see plenty of action again in 2020 once the regular season finally gets underway.

Mariners' Brandon Brennan: Secures third win
Brennan (3-6) was credited with the win in an extra-innings victory over the Pirates on Thursday, firing a perfect 10th inning during which he recorded one strikeout.
Brennan needed a scant nine pitches to preserve a 5-5 tie and subsequently became the pitcher of record courtesy of Aaron Nola's go-ahead RBI groundout in the top half of the 11th. Except for a stumble his last time out versus the White Sox on Sunday, Brennan has been largely effective since returning from the injured list Sept. 1, generating scoreless efforts in six of seven appearances while posting a sparkling 9:0 K:BB across 8.1 innings over that span.

The Mariners reinstated Brennan (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list ahead of Sunday's 11-3 win over the Rangers. He struck out two and worked around a hit in a scoreless ninth inning.
The Rule 5 selection had posted a 5.35 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in 37 innings with the Mariners before being shut down in mid-August with the shoulder issue. Now healthy again, Brennan is expected to work in middle relief during the final month of the season.

Brennan (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
Brennan was able to toss a side session Friday without issue, so following Monday's 25-pitch bullpen session, he's been given the green light to return to game action. The Mariners expect the right-hander to be activated from the injured list when rosters expand in September.
