  • Giants' Willy Adames: Struggles continue Friday

Adames went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Friday's 2-0 loss to the Angels. Adames failed to record a hit for the second consecutive game. He has gone 2-for-17 over his last four games after logging his third multi-hit effort of the season against the Phillies on Monday. The 29-year-old shortstop has been cold to begin the 2025 campaign, posting the Giants' second-lowest batting average among qualified players. Adames is now slashing .185/.256/.272 with eight RBI, five extra-base hits and an 8:24 BB:K across a team-high 90 plate appearances.

The 39-year-old shortstop has been cold to open 2025, slashing .203/.287/.297 across 72 plate appearances, but perhaps this performance will get him going.

Adames went 3-for-7 with a double, three RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Friday's 10-9 extra-innings win over the Mariners. Adames hit an RBI double in the fifth inning to give the Giants a 6-5 lead. That was one of many twists and turns in the game, which ended with his two-run, walk-off single in the 11th. He doubled his hit total for the season and is now batting .200 (6-for-30) with six RBI and three runs scored over seven contests. Adames also logged his first steal of the campaign, and he could be a contributor with his speed after a career-high 21 thefts in 2024 with the Brewers.

  • Giants' Willy Adames: Settling into No. 2 spot

Adames will start at shortstop and bat second in Wednesday's game against the Astros, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. After inking a $182 million deal in free agency this winter, Adames has quickly found a home in the No. 2 spot in the lineup, batting out of that spot in the order in each of the Giants' first six games. Though the Giants head into Wednesday's contest with a 4-1 record, Adames hasn't played a big role in the team's early success thus far; he's slashing just .158/.190/.211 with three RBI and one run.

  • Giants' Willy Adames: Passes physical with Giants

Adames passed his physical with the Giants on Tuesday, making his seven-year, $182 million contract with the team official, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. The Giants and Adames agreed to the lucrative deal Saturday, one he earned in large part due to the career-high 32 home runs and 112 RBI he compiled across 161 regular-season games with the Brewers in 2024. The star shortstop's contract is the largest in team history, and he'll be formally introduced at a news conference Thursday.

  • Giants' Willy Adames: Signs seven-year pact with Giants

Adames signed a seven-year, $182 million contract with the Giants on Saturday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. Adames slashed .251/.331/.462 with 32 homers, 112 RBI and 21 steals during the regular season in 2024 -- good enough to land the largest contract in Giants franchise history. The 29-year-old infielder immediately gives a power boost to a San Francisco lineup that ranked 15th in the majors with a .396 slugging percentage, and he's a safe bet to play in the field every day after starting all but one of Milwaukee's games last year. Assuming Adames fills in as the Giants' shortstop, the team may now choose to move Tyler Fitzgerald to second base while Brett Wisely gets pushed to the bench.

Adames went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two stolen bases in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Rockies. Adames got the scoring started Saturday with a first-inning solo home run, his 30th home run of the season. This is his second season with 30 or more homers after also doing it in 2022. Adames became the first Brewers player with 30 home runs and 100 RBI in a season since 2018, when both Christian Yelich and Jesus Aguilar did it.
