Red Sox's Danny Coulombe: Set to pitch Monday
Coulombe (illness) is scheduled to make a relief appearance in Monday's exhibition against the Twins, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.
The Red Sox sent Coulombe home from camp Saturday after he fell ill, but the veteran reliever has apparently made a full recovery following a couple days of rest. After signing with Boston just under two weeks ago, Coulombe made just one Grapefruit League appearance, but he should still be on track to make the Red Sox's Opening Day bullpen if he checks out fine following Monday's outing.

Red Sox's Danny Coulombe: Sent home with illness
Coulombe was sent home from Red Sox camp Saturday due to an illness, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
The nature of Coulombe's illness isn't known, but assuming he's able to recover quickly, he should still be in good shape to make the Opening Day roster. The veteran reliever signed with the Red Sox a little over a week ago and made his Grapefruit League debut Thursday.

Red Sox's Danny Coulombe: Has contract reworked
Coulombe's contract was restructured after the Red Sox discovered issues in the pitcher's physical examination, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
The overall value of the deal remains the same, but the guaranteed portion was reduced to $1 million. Coulombe can achieve another $2 million in performance and active roster bonuses throughout the season. Both parties in the contract renegotiation -- Boston chief baseball officer Craig Breslow and Coulombe's agent -- declined comment when asked about the situation. There have been no signs of limitation thus far. Coulombe threw a live batting practice Monday and is scheduled for his Grapefruit League debut Thursday.

Red Sox's Danny Coulombe: Inks deal with Boston
The Red Sox signed Coulombe to a one-year contract Thursday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
It's a major-league deal for the 36-year-old Coulombe, who split the 2025 season between the Twins and Rangers. Across 55 total appearances, Coulombe posted a 2.30 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 43:18 K:BB across 43 innings. Not including closer Aroldis Chapman, Coulombe figures to operate as manager Alex Cora's top situational lefty reliever out of Boston's bullpen.

The Rangers activated Coulombe (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.

Rangers' Danny Coulombe: Nearing activation
Coulombe (shoulder) may be activated from the 15-day injured list Tuesday, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News
Coulombe has been sidelined since Aug. 26 while dealing with left shoulder fatigue, but he now appears to be on the cusp of a return to the major-league roster. The 35-year-old has made two appearances with Double-A Frisco while on a minor-league rehab assignment, tossing two scoreless innings. Coulombe owns a 2.52 ERA and 1.12 WHIP over 39.1 innings in 51 appearances between the Twins and Rangers this season, but he's struggled to a 7.56 ERA over 8.1 frames with Texas since joining the team at the trade deadline.

Rangers' Danny Coulombe: Rehab assignment coming
Coulombe (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment at Double-A Frisco on Friday, MLB.com reports.
Coulombe last pitched Aug. 26 against the Angels, when he allowed a pair of home runs. He'll join Frisco for its final three games of the regular season. That gives the left-handed reliever ample opportunity to prepare for a potential activation Sept. 16, the earliest date on which he could return.

Rangers' Danny Coulombe: Placed on injured list
The Rangers placed Coulombe on the 15-day injured list Thursday with left shoulder fatigue, retroactive to Monday.
Coulombe hasn't made an appearance out of the bullpen since giving up three earned runs in just one-third of an inning Aug. 26, and his shoulder injury provides some clarity to the situation. He'll remain on the sidelines until at least Sept. 16, and the Rangers will return Cole Winn (hand) from the IL to claim the open bullpen spot.

Rangers' Danny Coulombe: Dealt to Rangers
The Rangers acquired Coulombe from the Twins on Thursday in exchange for Garrett Horn.
Coulombe turned himself into a nice trade chip for the Twins by posting a 1.16 ERA and 31:9 K:BB over 31 innings. The southpaw is effective against both left- and right-handed hitters and should help fill a setup role in Texas.

Twins' Danny Coulombe: Working as opener
Coloumbe will serve as the Twins' opening pitcher Sunday against the Brewers, Audra Martin of Fanduel Sports Network North reports.
The left-hander will make the second start of his MLB career and first since 2021. Coulombe has been effective in a high-leverage role this season with two saves, two holds and a 0.46 ERA over 19.2 innings, but he'll given Minnesota an inning or two as an opener Sunday before turning the game over to the bullpen. David Festa was previously penciled in to start Sunday and could follow Coulombe in a bulk role.

Twins' Danny Coulombe: Returns from IL
The Twins reinstated Coulombe (forearm) from the 15-day injured list Sunday.
Minnesota cleared a spot for Coulombe on the 26-man roster by moving Zebby Matthews (shoulder) to the injured list. Though Jhoan Duran maintains a firm grip on the Twins' closing gig, Coulombe had been a sneaky source of fantasy value in his setup role prior to landing on the shelf May 18 due to an extensor strain in his left forearm. In addition to scooping up two saves, two holds and one win in 19 appearances, Coulombe has yet to allow a run this season with 19 strikeouts over 16.2 innings.

Twins' Danny Coulombe: Could rejoin Minnesota
Coulombe (forearm) tossed one scoreless inning in his first rehab outing with Triple-A St. Paul on Friday.
Coulombe landed on the 15-day injured list May 18 due to an extensor strain in his left forearm. He was cleared to embark on a rehab assignment Friday, but the veteran southpaw may not need more work in Triple-A and could rejoin the Twins' bullpen in the coming days, per Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic. Coulombe hasn't given up a run across 16.2 major-league innings this season while posting a 0.60 WHIP, two saves and a 19:2 K:BB.
