Angels' Sam Selman: Struggles in Angels debut
Selman allowed one run on two hits, a hit batsman and a walk while retiring only one batter Sunday against Oakland.
The left-handed hurler got into his first game since being traded to the Angels on Friday. It was also his first big-league outing since May 25, as he had been pitching in the minors for the Giants prior to the trade. Selman struggled Sunday, throwing only 11 of 21 pitches for strikes, though that was partly due to a free pass issued to Matt Olson. He allowed the first four batters he faced to reach base before getting Yan Gomes to pop out to end the inning. If he sticks with the big club, Selman is unlikely to see much high-leverage work considering his lack of experience in that role thus far in his career.
