  • Juan Graterol: Cut loose by Snakes

The Diamondbacks released Graterol from his minor-league contract Aug. 1. The 33-year-old backstop slashed .255/.299/.358 with two home runs and three stolen bases across 147 plate appearances at Reno before being cut loose. • Diamondbacks' Juan Graterol: Sent to minors camp

The Diamondbacks reassigned Graterol to minor-league camp Sunday. • Blue Jays' Juan Graterol: Shipped to Blue Jays

Graterol was acquired by the Blue Jays from the Angels on Wednesday in exchange for cash considerations. The 32-year-old spent spring training with the Halos and was reassigned to minor-league camp last week. • Angels' Juan Graterol: Headed to minor-league camp

Graterol was assigned to minor-league camp Friday. Graterol signed a minor-league deal with the Angels in November but was unable to crack the roster. In 10 Cactus League plate appearances, he managed a .300/.300/.400 line.

  • Angels' Juan Graterol: Signs minor-league deal with Angels

Graterol and the Angels agreed to a minor-league deal Tuesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Graterol made his big-league debut for the Angels back in 2016 and has played 58 of his 67 career games at the highest level with the team. Nothing the 31-year-old has shown thus far suggests he deserves even a backup spot in the majors, as he's hit just .218/.227/.266 with zero homers, so he'll likely serve an organizational depth role this season.

Graterol declared for free agency Monday. Graterol accepted an outright assignment to Triple-A Louisville last week but apparently had a change of heart on the matter after meeting with the Reds' brass. The 30-year-old catcher is now free to test the open market but will more than likely have to settle for a minor-league deal if he wishes to keep his career going.

  • Reds' Juan Graterol: Sticks in organization

Graterol cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Louisville on Friday. It's no surprise to see a 30-year-old with just 67 career major-league games under his belt go unclaimed. He'll remain as organizational depth for the Reds.

  • Reds' Juan Graterol: Designated for assignment

Graterol (head) is out of the lineup for Friday's game versus the Rockies. Grateral was removed from Wednesday's game against the Brewers after taking a foul tip off his mask. The Reds can ill afford to go down another catcher with Tucker Barnhart (oblique), Curt Casali (knee) and Kyle Farmer (concussion) already on the injured list. • Reds' Juan Graterol: Exits after taking foul tip to mask

Graterol exited Wednesday's game against the Brewers in the bottom of the third inning after taking a foul tip off the mask, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports. Ryan Lavarnway took over behind the plate and is now the lone healthy catcher on the roster. Graterol should be considered day-to-day for now.

Ryan Lavarnway is starting at catcher, batting ninth.
